Volkswagen Jetta Monster Mat Rubber Floor Mats are greatA little expensive but good car mats

This is the same set of mats which I purchased when I bought my Jetta ten years ago. My original set has worn very well, and as the only competition, WeatherTech, does not make a set to fit my VW Jetta TDI (my car is a manual, and according to WT's customer support their mat is designed for the automatic transmission only), I bought it again.Unfortunately, as soon as I ordered these there was a "family emergency" the circumstances of which have kept me so tied up for the last 5+ months that I couldn't install them until today. (IK bought them in Nov, and now it's March of the next year. Sigh.)Ten years is an unusually good lifespan for a rubber mat in any car, and my first set of these protected my car's floors from large dogs, rain, LARGE dogs, food spills, ENORMOUS dogs, trash, and the like (and really big dogs, too).As I expect to have this car for at least a few more years, since these had worn so well, I bought them again. My mistake. My Jetta takes the oval holes, not the round ones, BUT I went through this same issue already when I bought the first set. It's a fairly simple matter to remove the "hold-downs" from the old mats and swap them out for the ones in the new, "round-hole" mats (no idea where the dealer got the ones for this first set, and as stated, it came with the round hold-downs). When I finally got to install these, I did that and only then did I notice that they may LOOK the same but THEY ARE THINNER (significantly so). So I am not confident that they will hold up like the first set (the thickness at the rim is thinner on these by a little more than 1/8" (0.129" by caliper). Consequently I'll be lowering my rating from 5 stars to 3 since these should have been the same as my previous set.I would not have bought these had I known that they were thinner, and I cannot recommend them to anyone.(A former co-worker who knows me figured out that I wrote this review and asked why I mentioned dogs 3 times. It's simple. In my LandRover, the aforementioned "large dogs" (110lb+ each) managed to puncture the floor mats with their nails, and shortly after that they decided to start chewing on the mats. Neither of those ever happened with the first set of these - hence I mentioned the dogs as a potential risk to floor mats.)

I live in Iowa and we have our share of snow, mud, and slush. These work great. They have extremely deep grooves to catch the mud, sand and slush. I haven't tested it but I'd guess you could pour a gallon of liquid into the mats without it overflowing. The mats themselves are just heavy duty rubber. About as ugly as imaginable. They're ugly but do the job extremely well.I own a 2006 VW Jetta and purchased my first set of Monster Mats with the car. My only gripe is the base of the rubber ridges cracks and allows moisture to leak through to the carpet. It took 3 years for these holes to develop in our first set. Only the driver's side developed the leak. I'll cut them some slack since we've put 70K miles on the car before the problem showed up. I think that was money well spent.When you order these make sure you order the style with right style latches. There's an oval type latch and a round type latch. They're not interchangeable.

Good quality, just had to replace the circular rings that came with it with my oval ones from old floor mat, fits perfect on a 2006 Jetta 2.5L

Back when I first got my Jetta (used) it came with these monster mats and I LOVED them. However, living in the desert, the sun takes a toll on EVERYTHING and my old ones eventually succumbed to the wear and tear of the UV rays after a few years. Therefore, a new set was in order. I much preferred these over the kinds I was finding in the stores because they catch dust and rocks much better and the clean up is so easy. The worst thing about these when I got them was the smell. Oh how awful that was. I had to let them air out a couple days before I could use them in the car. I'm hoping these will last me 6 years just like the last ones.

Little expensive but change the whole look in my car. Looks much better now
