How can i tell if i have a k5 pro or a k5 pro ess, i ordered the ess but everything on the box says k5 pro and the product name in app says k5 pro?

Mine says ess on the back, who knows what's inside

does this come will all necessary cables?

I don’t know what it necessary to you, but this unit come with a power supply brick that has the US plug type. It also come with the USB-B to USB-A cable for connecting to your PC for PCM signal via your USB port. Since the unit has a 6.3mm audio jack for headphones, they also include an adapter to enable plugging in 3.5mm jack as well, this is helpful if you have iems and/or other headphones that only have the 3.5mm.

Can i connect my mac to this via usb and then connect this to my soundbar using optical? and then connect my mac to tv using hdmi? will that work?

This unit accepts optical as well as USB INPUTS. Any device that OUTPUTS digital optical for sound should be able to feed the optical input of the K5. The K5 cannot feed any other device optical signal. It can only receive optical input. So if your soundbar is providing optical OUTPUT, the K5 can accept it. However if your soundbar is requiring optical INPUT, you cannot connect the K5 to it.
