Great daily wear watch! 18 months and going..
First off, I have owned this watch for 1.5 years, and worn it on average 5/7 days a week. I wear it to work, and when working with my hands, so the watch has truly taken a beating, but it keeps on ticking...As many others have mentioned the watch is simple, stylish, and rugged. For me, I like that the face has great contrast, and it makes quick work of reading time, even at arms length. Even though the second hand dial is the smallest, the contracting orange hand makes it easy to see when the next minute will roll-over. The date window, however small and offset, is easy for me to read. The lume on the watch is on the large hour indicators around the outside bezel, and the hour and minute hand. The lume quality is great! It is bright and long lasting. I don't often wear my watch at night, but when I do, I am always surprised to be able to read the lume into the early morning hours. Perhaps the high contrast of the indicators naturally helps the lume contrast even when it becomes dim. Whatever the case, this glow lasts. The chronograph feature is one of the things that I appreciate most about this Seiko 7t92 movement. In working in a production environment with time sensitive activities going on constantly, I often use the 12 hour chrono to keep quick check on chronological progression of events started hours before. Most movements only measure 30-60 mins max, but not this one! The hardware for the chrono seems solid, with nice feel to the buttons, but as others have mentioned, the 1/20 dial is ever-so-slightly off when in the reset position. This does not bother me, honestly, as it takes a really keen eye to notice. In my 18 months of wearing, I have only ever had to adjust the home position of the chrono hands twice (procedure is in the manual and only takes a minute). As far as the ruggedness goes, the finish of the watch is nice, but as with matte/satin finishes, marks and scuffs can easily show up as polished scuffs. This bothered me at first, but then I began to accept each scuff as a mark of character that was due to the watch for being worn in such conditions (read this as, I'm tough on the watch, and began to accept that these things happen!). I have another watch with the same finish that does some weekend duty, and it has maintained beautifully in less rugged environments. What I'm not as happy about, however, is the scratches on the hard-lex. There are many scratches, but there would be many more if there weren't such a guarding steel bezel around the outside diameter. The bezel has taken most of the wear on this watch. On that note, If I could improve a few things with this watch, they would be a more rugged crystal and making the watch slightly thinner.A few final things. I have traditionally worn leather bands and found them most comfortable, but with this watch, for some reason, I put off purchasing a replacement. To my surprise, I ended up loving the nylon band, especially after it broke-in. I think this has something to do with the width of it, and that it isn't at all abrasive or rough on the edges. On that note, the band has held up wonderfully over the last 18 months, and I don't plan on changing it. Lastly, the battery is still original. My goal/expectation is to get at least two years out of this multi-dialed chrono. However well it might stand up to most peoples' daily wear duties, it has not cosmetically stood up too well to all the hardships I put it through. Despite this, the features, reliability, and style of this watch make it a winner in my book.

Practical and handsome watch
This is a military inspired sports, chronograph watch, slightly largish and utilitarian looking but handsome in that vein. It has a non-descript rugged appearance and is quite straight forward in all aspects of its operation. It’s high contrast dial is easy to read at a glance in all lighting conditions and its lume is bright and long lasting for those situations when it needs to be read in the dark. It comes with a simple nylon strap that is thin and very light, comfortable but utilitarian. It is serviceable but I expect many will opt to replace it with something else (sooner or later). The watch has a conventional dial with three sub dials. All dials are on a flat black background with white markings. Except for the second hands, The minute, hour and second increment hands are high contrast white. The hour and minute hands are filled with a bright, high quality, long lasting luminous substance as are the hour hash marks which populate the outer parameter of the dial. Depending on one’s personal philosophy about how a chronograph second hand should work, the large second hand is inactive until the chrono/stopwatch feature is activated. Under normal operation, the seconds are marked by the sub dial at the 9:00 position. Although this arrangement appears to bother a lot of people, I think it is much better for accurately measuring elapsed time. Both the large second hand and small second hand are red. The sub dial at the 12:00 position tracks partial seconds in 1/20th increments. The sub dial at the 6:00 position tracks hours and minutes of elapsed time for twelve hours. There is a miniscule date window at the 4:00 position. Although I have several other watches that moonlight as chronographs, this type of arrangement is by far the most useful for that purpose. While on the topic of chronographs, I’m surprised at the number of people who complain or return chronographs because the hands do not point to the 12:00 position when reset. With all of the chronographs I am familiar with there is a usually simple method for re-calibrating the sub dial hands. This watch is no exception. That procedure is fully explained in the enclosed instruction booklet and on the Seiko site. One would expect new users to look at the instructions before criticizing and giving the watch a bad review but sometimes they don’t… In general, this watch impresses me as a tool and a very good one. It’s a straight forward no nonsense design will appeal to a wide variety of outdoor and technical types who admire it’s practicality above ornamentation or in general those who prefer a more rugged image.

the good: It's hard to find a cleaner
First, the good: It's hard to find a cleaner, classier looking analog chornograph at this price point. The face conveys a lot of information in an efficient way. Pair this with a leather strap and it's a very fine looking watch. The lume (i.e., glowing hands and markers) is excellent. Now the bad. On my particular example, the hand that measures 1/20 of a second doesn't precisely line up with the "12" when at rest. You wouldn't notice unless you're squinting at it, and it still functions just fine, but still. This is a lot to pay for a quartz watch from a value brand, and I'd prefer it be perfect. Second, occasionally when using the chronogrpah feature, the hands will come back to a random position instead of resetting to zero the way they're supposed to. This has happened maybe twice out of using the chronograph nearly every day to time my daily bike commute. It's not common, and it's simple to fix by resetting the hands. But still--this is a Seiko and I expect better. All in all, though, it is a very classy watch when paired with nice strap. At this point in history, it's obviously a bit old-fashioned to want to measure down to .05 of a second using an analog device, but it's cool to be able to do so! There are just a couple of details that prevented this from being a five-star piece.
