Q: Can you prop the ipad the long way with this case? It's easier to read with the screen the long way.

Yes, using the same notch you prop it up the short way. It will stand up straight, not angled like when you use it propped up the short way.

Q: Can I still use keyboard with this case?

I am not sure as I do not have a keyboard that attaches to my iPad, however this case does work if your iPad is 10.2 inches wide. I had to re-order a smaller one because I have the iPad mini 2. I do like this case and ordered a new one to replace an old one that was worn out.

Q: why does screeen stay dim in case?

I believe this case does not have the cutouts required on each side of the “selfie camera to allow the iPad to “sense” and respond to ambient light changes. (the sensors are blocked by the case). The iPad can likely be brightened while in this case by changing the display setting on the iPad but then will stay at that brightness regardless of the room lighting. Other cases by Finite and other companies have those cutouts such that the iPad display brightness adjusts automatically. Hope that helps.
