These plates are beautiful, high quality, and durable but I would not call them dinner plates which is why I did not give them five stars. In terms of the quality they are five stars for sure. These are more like dessert plates. There is no way that these can be considered dinner plates with them being the size that they are. I mean maybe it would do us good to eat on these sort of plates for dinner so we wouldn't eat so much. lol... They are more like small, oval plates that you might put appetizers on. They are very pricy for the size but again, they are beautiful plates so I decided to keep them. And the colors are just vibrant and I get lots of compliments on them.

I love the look. These are perfect for a salad, sandwich, or to put taco fixings on. I find myself using them daily for one thing or another.

I think these dishes are quite pretty. I have my favorite among the four patterns, and I expect many people will. Maybe this will cause arguments in your family if more than one person prefers a particular pattern.Eight inches seems small for these to be called "dinner plates"; they seem more like dessert dishes or plates for side dishes to me. I also don't think the photographs capture how "bowl-shaped" these are. For the most part I think this will be fine. The only food I can think of that seems better suited to a flat plate is toast -- with a high-sided plate like these you'll be kind of reaching down into the plate to butter your toast. But that's not the end of the world, I guess. I'm still going to replace my old, flatter 8" plates with these.

We were expecting dinner sized plates but these are more like a salad plate you'd get at a restaurant. They look cool and washing is easy in or out of the dishwasher. They handle the microwave without incident, as well. For an eclectic kind of funky look, these are a great set of smaller dishes with lots of uses. Great set for housewarming!
