Q: does the pin connection come with the unit

Not sure if I understand the question; but instructions come with the unit hat show how to connect the thermostat to your heating system.

Q: Will this work in an RV?

Most thermostat’s are low voltage so yes it will work in an RV. Just take a look at the size of the wire it’s usually 18 GA or less.

Q: is this the one with the flip out battery compartment?

The Honeywell TH5110D1022 Digital Thermostat does not use a battery. Hence, it does not have a battery compartment.

Q: If the batteries die will the thermostat maintain the previously set temperature or what will happen?

The thermostat will blink for several days indicating that the batteries are dying. It completely shuts off and the ac or heat will run continuously when the batteries die. Once you replace the batteries, it will return to the previous setting.
