Works Great - Buy it!
I just bought this snow thrower, the basic (737) model w/o electric start nor the shredding ice auger. In 25 years I've never needed an e-start but the metal auger would have been nice but it's only sold with the e-start option which adds ~$200. To be fair, it's April here in Colorado and 70 degrees, so I can't yet review it's capability for throwing snow, but I can tell you everything else.I download the Owners Manual from the B&S website prior to purchase, but it didn't include set-up instructions, which I found in the delivered box. It took me about 25 minutes to cut away the packaging and lay-out all the parts, plus another 20 minutes to complete the set-up. The set-up manual is long on cartoons and short on specific text instructions. Overall it fairly intuitive, I only screwed it up twice, but leaves a few questions unanswered before testing the engine.Specifically, "How much oil do I add?", "What's the capacity of the fuel tank?, and, "What type of oil and fuel should I use"?. If you migrate between the set-up manual, and the owner's manual, you finally get these questions answered. Oil is 20oz with 5-30 recommended; fuel capacity is 3.0-3.2 quarts rated at 85-87 regular.Having completed all the above I was ready to run a start-up test on the engine, but the first instruction was to turn the key to ON. No where in any manual did it tell me where to insert the key - another 10-15 minute search! It's located below and forward of the choke (red) position switch. The unit is made in China and I suspect the manuals are English conversions? The engine ran perfectly and started with one pull. I repeated this over 5 days with no priming, and I remain impressed! This is my 3rd snow thrower in 25 years and is one of the best purchases I've ever made. Can't wait to see how it performs in the snow!UPDATE: It's now mid-December and I've used this thrower 4 times operating flawlessly! Even at freezing temps it starts with one pull if I remember to set the choke. It's serious fun to watch how far it throws the snow, like from the sidewalk to the middle of the street. It's much quieter than the others I've owned, allowing an earlier start without waking the neighbors. I recommend adding an ounce of sea-bil to a 2-gallon gas can so you don't have to remember when refilling the gas tank.No snow thrower is perfect, although this one is close. I have only two issues. Somewhere in the owners manual it says the engine must be upgraded for use above 5,000 feet. Being at 6,200 feet I dropped off the unit at the engine shop. The upgrade consists of re-jetting the carburetor but the jet has to be ordered from Briggs & Stratton. After 4 weeks of waiting, B&S told us that this upgrade is only required for 3-4% of the country and they haven't made any yet? Glad I started this last May!Not to bash B&S, I'd recommend they design a longer handle for rotating the shoot direction. I'm 5'9" and to reach it I have to step to one side of the thrower. Not a big deal unless you slip on the snow/ice with each rotation. They do sell this unit with a crank at extra cost for this purpose, located behind the thrower.Would I buy it again, now that I've used it a few time ... Absolutely! Spending extra bucks for the electric start is a waste of money. I can't comment on the metal ice scraper addition to the auger, other than to say it's not needed unless you wait to long after it snows?

Little Beast but not without faults
Pros: light weight (maneuverability), easy to start(x2 prime and pull) so far, throws slush and snow. Surprised the slush did not bog it down as I expected it to. That was one of the heavier snow/ice days we had in a while up north and this little beast was a champ. Saved my back that day. This is the reason I decided to get the gas over the electric snow thrower...heavy SLUSH!!! This is one of the better single stage throwers, as long as it is working properly.Cons: An ice patch was under the snow I was removing, must of hit a screw head at the right angle. The rubber auger blade screw snapped off and the rubber blade also pulled completed away from another pan head screw. The rubber auger blade was flapping around and smoking a little and vibrated snow thrower so hard. Caught in time and released auger handle and shut it down before any further damage occurred. Had to manually finish, thank goodness it wasn't that heavy. Briggs and Stratton was out of stock of the screws, figures. They told me to take it to an authorized warranty dealer that was 40 miles away, heck to the no! They told me there is no guarantee it would even be covered under warranty. I did order the screws from another company for a 1-2 week delivery window. A day later I decided to dig through my tools and found a screw and washer. I put the rubber blade back together. I had to remove old broken screw with vice grips. There is also a cylinder washer type piece that goes in the center of the rubber blade hole before the the pan head screw goes through....Briggs and Stratton doesn't even list let alone sell this as a part, and Customer Service was useless in finding this part. The other online stores do not list/sell this part either. The parts manual does not even list this part. Looks like I have to run machine without this part. Hopefully and it doesn't appear the machine will malfunction without this part. Maybe during the Spring I will take cylinder part up to local Hardware to try to match....or take a pic and send it to Briggs and Stratton for a possible parts no. match. This entire ordeal has been a negative experience, especially after my 3rd time running the unit. So many local shops I did call and they keep telling me this a Murray snow thrower with a Briggs and Stratton engine? Is this true? Anyway, I will keep all posted if interested.

Good Machine once interim repair made
Seems to be a good machine and was simple to assemble. On first use I discovered that the deflector at the end of the discharge chute and shot the snow straight up in the air regardless of how it was set, The adjustment on the deflector was not strong enough to keep it in place. After several calls to Briggs & Stratton and calls to the warranty dealer in my area (who said that they would work on the engine, bot no other parts of the machine), B & S sent a replacement part, which was on back order and arrived a month later. Good think that I could remove the discharge chute on my old machine and make it fit on this new one on a temporary basis. Overall, the snow blower performs well, but I shouldn't have had to immediately retro fit salvaged parts to make it work properly. B & S customer service and warranty support a bit sketchy.

Fairly easy to assemble
The hardest part was deciphering which model I'd bought, since the assembly instructions cover at least three models. However, by process of elimination ("Oh, that thing isn't there, so it's not that model"), I was able to figure it all out within a half hour or so. Engine oil came with it. After filling with gasoline, the puppy started right up (electric start). I would never have expected to buy a snowblower, sight-unseen, from Amazon. But local supply was low and prices high (COVID-related factory shutdowns). I'm a bit worried that the overall construction is a bit plasticky. We'll see how it performs once a good whack of snow arrives.

So so performance.
I purchased this at the beginning of Jan 2021. From the B.C Interior so we can get a lot of snow but usually dont. Didnt get a chance to use it since our snowfalls was very minor up until this December 2021. I have used it twice to clear my side walk and driveway and on both occasions the belt has come off or gotten wedged in between the large pulley and body of the machine. Simple enough fix however it is annoying to always have to fix this. Brand new, only used it twice and both times same issue. Perhaps it is just my machine and a querk with a loose screw or something. Other than that, runs ok, throws snow well, but struggles with heavier wet snow, solution to this is to do more passes and take less snow when it is wet and heavy.

Didn't use the electric start as its so easy to start with the pull cord
Used this past winter here in an east coast Canadian winter and I'm very impressed with this snow blower. Didn't use the electric start as its so easy to start with the pull cord. The axle shaft for the wheels was bent upon arrival like it had been dropped harder than need be during shipping. No real issue where the wheel could be taken off and the axle pried on the straighten it back out.Would be nice if both the angle and direction could be adjusted from the handle, but its easy enough to reach.Easily throws snow 25 feet and even did the heavier snow at the end of the driveway left by the snow plow with slush mixed in from salt left by the road plow.

Nice and nimble
Used it once and found it almost as nimble as a lawnmower. Great - now the wife and kids can do the driveway. It pulls itself along with the blades really nicely. Might be a bit of a struggle with thick snow or clearing what the snowplow dumps at the end of the driveway. Assembly instructions are a bit vague, but you can find a Youtube video to see how things are supposed to look. The only thing I was not happy about was it was delivered on it's side in the box despite the arrows showing "Up", generally not a big deal, but some fluids did leak into the cardboard and made me wonder if some oil may have leaked in some places they should not be.

torsion spring cable needs to be some what tightish in a released position or belt will flop off
Well first Jan.17 2022 major snow storm of 55cm of powder snow 4 hours running time to do my 8 car driveway plus 130 feet of sidewalk ....2hours X twice......no hic-ups ran smoothly and throws snow 30 plus feet....the 4 stroke makes for a heavier machine than the older Toro 2 stroke....but it did the job....happy with purchase
