FINALLY! A tracker that works!
We have two elementary school aged children, and wanted to be able to track our children on their daily trek to school. We have already in the matter of a couple of months of school experienced four bus delays/issues (bus broke down twice, rearended once in a traffic accident, and late another time because of an incident on the Jr High route). We had hoped that we could just get a GPS tracker, and add it to our Verizon wireless plan. Don't laugh ... you would think that would have been an easy request. Verizon has ONE such tracker on their website, but it says it's only available for in-store purchase. But NONE of the Verizon stores in the country have this tracker. So, we found another tracker on another website that "guaranteed" it would work on the Verizon network. We bought it, and ended up essentially "getting fleeced" on that tracker. We found out AFTER our purchase that the item is/was "end of life" and no longer supported, so we're just chucking that experience up to "lesson learned." We won't be making any other such purchases from THAT "budget" website merchant! We thought it should have been all too easy to add a GPS/LTE tracker to our existing wireless account. We didn't want our six and nine year old (Kindergartner and 3rd grader) to have a smartphone at such a young age. Then we found these trackers on Amazon. Our experience couldn't possibly be better. The trackers charge with a USB-C connection, and the charge lasts about two weeks with the device set to "ping" once a minute. Moreover, these devices are just dropped into their backpacks and essentially forgotten as they send out their "pings" to update location data once a minute. There is a SOS button on the tracker, so should the kids feel threatened or if they are in an emergency situation, they can press the button on the face of the device, and an alert will be sent to our monitoring cell phones immediately. Setup was painless and easy. Optimus Tracker does offer an annual "plan," and the app to monitor the devices is an easy installation from either the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store. $20 for the tracker, and then $20 per month for service (less expensive with the annual plan) is a small price to pay for that peace of mind in today's crazy, crazy world to know where our kids are and that they are safe. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tracker device for other parents wanting to know their young children's whereabouts.

Easy to use, does the trick
I bought one of these to keep track of a vehicle. Didn't use it at first, and set it aside. When I went to use it, I had lost the directions, so I emailed the company -- they emailed me back within the hour -- pretty impressive. It's simple to set up! For a totally honest review, here are all my thoughts: The tracker works well, although not exact, but that is to be expected, really. It gives you a general enough idea of where the vehicle is that you can figure it out. The movement alert is pretty touchy -- goes off a LOT, maybe even if there is wind, so, when the vehicle isn't in use, I just turn the movement alert off. I also bought the magnetic case to attach the tracker to the underside of the vehicle, and it works great! As for battery life, I noticed some complaints about it being too short -- I find it lasts about 2 weeks, as promised. If you keep every alert on "on" all the time, that may wear it out faster, but I really don't find it to be an issue. And it's easy. I like it so well that I ordered a 2nd one, for another vehicle. And you can name them yourself, to make it easy to differentiate between them, if you have more than one. Now, I will compare it to Verizon's hum, which I also own. The hum is much more specific on location, and has live coverage -- meaning I can actually watch the vehicle travel (on the hum map). The Optimus tracker is not live -- but you just have to keep pressing the "refresh" icon, and you can follow along that way. But I definitely prefer the Optimus thus far, because the hum OFTEN doesn't work properly -- I would never give the hum a good review, frankly. I've only been using the Optimus tracker for 6 months or so, and definitely recommend it. And their customer service is unparalleled! When is the last time you called a company and got a person on the phone (immediately!) who was kind and helpful? That's the experience I had with the people at Optimus. I don't write many reviews, but wanted to make sure to do this one because I'm so pleased! :)

I Might Purchase a Second One...
Purchased to track one of my teen children. Hid in a panel and wrapped up in a rag. 95% of the time it works like a dream. When moving it updates very accurately. The tracks as to where your vehicle has been show "as the crow flies" though. It will not show you a nice neat trail as to exactly which roads you were on, but rather will connect them through areas where there aren't actual roads; no big deal honestly. It is pretty easy to draw accurate conclusions as to what roads the vehicle was actually on. One day it showed my car was parked about seven houses down. I dove home and my car was sitting in my drive way. It seems to have trouble reporting accurately around my house, but nearly all other areas report correctly and VERY accurately - like within just a few feet of where the car actually is. Have used about five days and have 62% battery left. It will probably last me about two weeks on one charge is my best guess. I actually love this tracker and am considering buying a second one. The phone app works well; logging into the website on my laptop does also. Very few issues except for the false reporting around my house. At the very least I know my car is probably parked at my house, but is showing a few houses down... I can live with that if that's the worst issue I encounter with this unit. $100 well spent.

Absolutely pleased!
Bought this tracker in May 2019 as our dtr who was 20 at the time and her friend were going to travel from Texas to Georgia. This month we used it again as our dtr was traveling hundreds of miles late at night by herself for the first leg of a journey. Both times we used this we could bring up her location with out difficulty on our phone or computer, super easy to set up an account and to discontinue it when not needed. Excellent battery life, and gps location right down to the location of a car in a parking lot! Another plus is that there is a button that can be depressed until it vibrates on the front of the tracker at which time will send an emergency notification to whom you have listed as contacts. This has been a life saver in the sense that it calms your nerves, and you can track location at anytime and, the emergency button also gives a sense of security to our dtr and us that it is a lot easier to push that button than call 911. Highly recommend this to anyone---especially parents with young drivers. We explained to our dtr why we are using it, she knows when we put it in the car and is 100% ok with it. Best purchase ever and no regrets!

this is the best unit you could purchase for the basic user like ...
I bought this as a gift for my friend that really needed it. I did careful research for awhile before deciding on which one to buy. I had a few different ones that I was looking at, and was really weighing all the options. Since this was for my friend I had the added pressure not to let them down. I settled on this product for many reasons. I would definitely say that overall, this is the best unit you could purchase for the basic user like us. Super easy to set up...super easy interface and app...super easy to decipher the data. This is important for me because the person I bought it for is not a native english speaker. My primary concern was the battery life. We did the least frequent updates option (the standard on the site) and that was completely efficient at giving you the information you need. With that option, the battery lasted between 4-6 days... The entire process is pretty easy to figure it out, If you cant figure it out, the customer service is fantastic. You can tell when a company is truly trying to put out a great product. These guys are really working hard to do that. If you happen to have any questions..they get back to you very quickly. They can probably sense that some folks might be anxious to use this and they are super helpful. One tip...was concerned about the flashing lights on the unit possibly giving it away. If you buy that magnetic box for a vehicle, that solves the problem. You can’t see anything once it’s in that box. For one of hers, ..we just stuck a small piece of black gaffers tape on top of the lights, problem solved.

Very bad device and staff
The device works fine for a few months, then it lost the signal, and one day it lost signal in one place. The most disappointing thing was that I asked to use the warranty and no one gave me a solution, on the contrary they canceled my service after paying for 3 months without using it because I was waiting for it to be replaced. Excellent for family tracking
I needed a device for peace of mind to help track family while they are on their daily walks. This device works perfectly for those needs. Comparison to google maps location sharing: giving Google maps a shot made the most sense. Free, existing technology. However, it’s also terribly unreliable. There are huge gaps in time (hours) when the app might refresh to give an accurate location. Comparison to Jiobit, the new competitor with lots of marketing hype behind it: I like the design but that is just about all. It has curved edges and has the shape of car key alarm that would fit neatly into the palm of your hand. They have LOTS of positive testimonials from both tech and parent reviewers. BUT do yourself a favor and read the fine print from actual buyers. A lot of people complained in particular about the billing. The Jiobit subscription appears to be permanent, as in forever! You cannot cancel independently; you have to do so via email. And when you do, your device will stop working entirely, no chance of signing back on at a later date. Goodbye $130. The only way to keep using your device to keep paying for it. That’s when I changed my keyword search to something more simple, “GPS tracking device.“ There are a lot of results that pop up. Plenty of them are very old-school, clunky, ugly-looking, outdated technologies. Among them, you’ll also see very odd pricing structures... for example, if you want to see more frequent/accurate location updates, you have to pay more, up to $30-40+ monthly. After doing a lot of sifting, I settled on the Optimus tracker. No regrets at all. Pros: • Not a bad looking device. Very simple. Has a couple LED lights to let you know it’s working or charging. • Excellent battery life - in my case, it will run for a week before going to about 50%. • Has web based map as well as app based. • Mobile phone app is simple, intuitive, and well designed. • App will allow the creation of multiple Geo fences. • App has the ability to send text notifications to multiple phone numbers. • Device and app will allow you to choose the frequency of the location updates ranging from 10 minutes all the way down to 10 seconds… At no extra cost. (Although, the battery will drain faster at the smaller intervals.) • Cancel any time you want! Restart your subscription anytime you want. $19/month at the time of this review. • The price of the product is less than a quarter of what people are paying to get ripped off by Jiobit. If I had any wishes, it might be that the device was a little bit smaller. As it is, it has the appearance and size of a tiny remote control. But given all of the advantages mentioned above, that’s totally fine. I would recommend this!

Inaccurate gps location
Ok....I purchased in December of 2021. I've given it a big chance. However, the accuracy is not so reliable. In most cases it is but while charging it at home, it will show me it's location as down the street, across the street and up to 300 yards away from where it actually is located, not moving the device at all. The trail lines are from point A to B, not according to the streets. But this is based on the refresh time....so that's our problem. If you need a basic gps tracker then it is perfect for you. If you need a detailed tracker then you will need to invest in a much higher priced unit. So I want to leave you with this. The interval, updated timing, commands are excellent. Lower updating will have the battery last for a week or more. It is small enough to hide, in a car....the trunk or behind the back seat. Reception, via the cell coverage, is also pretty good. I am just bothered by the location jumping around while charging it.
