SolarLite Solar Filter for Telescope, fits Celestron and Meade 8" Schmidt Cassegrain

3 years ago I bought a solar filter of the same brand which was made using optical glass. Images looked good to me. Was surprised to find so much criticism of inexpensive glass solar filters. When I ordered this 8 inch filter, thought it would be glass also (should have carefully read description). Surprised it was film. Seems to work well and was same cost as 6 inch glass filter. Apparently Thousand Oaks no longer uses glass. Much lighter than glass.

This is essential eclipse gear.Worth what you pay for it. It fits my Celestron 8" SCT perfectly, with three of pieces of the included felt padding applied. I have not had the opportunity to use it in exceptional seeing, or when there were many sunspots, but under the conditions I have used it, it is perfect. This is my eigth solar filter (one was a 10" glass number) and it is about as good as any of them.BTW, when applying the felt padding (sticky on one side, felt on the other) I applied three pieces 120 degrees apart. If you need more place the additional pieces on top of the first three. More pieces around the perimeter do not help.

Fits my Celestron NexStar 8 Evo perfectly. Was a great addition to be able to safely view the eclipse this August. I'll add a cautionary note; somehow I didn't read the description closely enough and mistakenly thought it was a glass encased filter, but it's not. It's just the film stretched on the metal casing.

I have used this several times with my C-8, this is the flexible covering not the glass. I had to adjust a little did not under stand at first why I had dark spot in the middle, this came from my secondary mirror. Just move it and goes away. Also good to about 100 magnification but not any more. It does what it claims.

This fits my Celestron 8" NextStar Evolution perfectly after fitting the felt around the inside of the filter. It has a yellow cast instead of the typical white cast most solar filters provide, which is more natural looking. After I paired it with an 8mm lens, it was quite easy to spot sunspots. Side Note: This is NOT a good choice for the eclipse though since an 8" telescope is the equivalent of a 2032mm zoom lens on a camera.

Works Great ! I was expecting a thick polymer type filter instead of an ultra thin wrinkly around the edges type ( I know nothing about filters)...but, it works. The sticky back felt was long enough to double up in a few places to make a good custom fit - Old Celestron 8". The filter is really light weight.
