I purchased this knife as a gift for a co-worker who is left-handed (like me). He had a sashimi knife but didn't realize it was right handed and wondered why he was having problems cutting fish. I showed him what I could do with mine and ended up buying one for him as a present. If you're spending $20-$40lb for sashimi grade tuna you need the right knife to make a platter of perfectly cut slices of fish. Since I haven't used the knife I purchased, you have to take my review with a grain of salt. I have the same knife and can vouch it works well.This knife is not for beginners; you should have decent knife skills and the ability to sharpen a single edged knife before buying one.

Do not buy this, not worth even to try!!!
No good at all, it’s totally not worth to buy, may be you should try the Mercer thin knife, I forgot what is called in name. The most that met my expectation is it is traditional Yamagiba look, that’s it.

Looks good so far!
Haven't used it yet but it looks great! Yes, it's for lefties (thank goodness!) The handle isn't quite ergonomic but I'm not complaining, still feels comfortable in the hand.
