Panasonic microwave oven
I bought this Panasonic Prestige microwave with a little hesitation because others complained that the digital display was so difficult to read. I also was afraid that it was going to be too large for the space I had. I'm happy to say that it seems to be a little smaller than the measurements would indicate, so it is just right! It has a sleek, modern look to it and is very easy to operate. The autosensor controls work perfectly-better than if I manually select a period of time that I used in my old microwave. This oven is very powerful and food is cooked faster than what I was used to, but still, with no rubbery edges. The defrost cycles are also right on, without partially cooking the food as it defrosts!I'm also happy to say that I can read the digital display from an angle, any height, and even from 15 feet away! The blue lights seem to do the trick and look very cool! The fit and finish of this oven are very good, with all seams meeting, without gaps, as was with the case with my old Magic Chef. The ventilation system is very good, without excess moisture building up inside. The inside is very easy to clean if a spatter occurs. All in all, this microwave is pretty near perfect and I'm enjoying cooking, not just reheating, again!

Great microwave with effective sensor options.
This microwave has served us well the last couple months. upon receiving our first unit which had a faulty turntable we swapped it out through amazon and our second unit has operated flawlessly. I really like the dial controls for selecting cook time as it is very fast and easy to input time. Some however may not like this as it does not allow you to input time down to the second easily. If your the type of person who just ball parks your cook time this is great! In addition this is the only microwave I have ever had where the sensor functions are spot on. I have used the sensor reheat function for everything from bowls of chili to reheating thanksgiving leftovers and it has done well each time. I was especially impressed that big plates seemed to heat evenly using the sensor function.Speaking of heating evenly I have never used a microwave that does this better. regardless of time cooking or sensor food was always heated very uniformly with out the "hot spots" and "cold spots" many microwaves can cause. The micowave is very good looking as well and the blue accent lighting really gives it a modern and clean feel.Pros- even cooking across all food types and plate sizes- sensor reheat options are both comprehensive and surprisingly effective ( I rarely use the timer anymore the sensor reheat is that good)- Dial timer input is unique but effective and allows for quick time selection- Modern clean look that fits well in most kitchensCons - Dial input makes precise time selection somewhat difficult - This unit is VERY large for a countertop microwave it has a very large footprint (not necessarily a con as the size is stated.)Overall this is the best microwave I have ever used and I would highly recommend it.

Beautiful appliance: Has WAY TOO short of a life.
Gorgeous appliance. Works well, that is for as long as it works. This is the third Panasonic Inverter-style microwave. Two of two different sizes I bought through Costco at a good price. I found this one decently priced on Amazon. Of the first two, one lasted five years, one lasted a little over two. This one, the most expensive and best looking, not even a year and a half. Unbelievable.... I owned a Kenmore, purchased back in the mid 80's, for over a DOZEN YEARS with no problem. This nice of an appliance, using all those raw materials, is now trash. And where is all that stuff going? To a landfill, to some guy who runs a fix-it shop who'll buy it for $5 from the thrift store I can maybe donate it to?We use it ONLY for reheating food, just the two of us, and mostly only for reheating our coffee and making tea, sometimes melting butter and/or chocolate for baking. It was always kept sparkling, well cared for. It wasn't abused, never run without something in it, never left the door open to keep on the light, never had a lightening strike which may have caused an electrical problem. What I paid for this appliance ended up costing me over 40 cents per day that it worked. Add that to my one daily coffee and now it's dang expensive. It's ridiculous that this appliance, which is one that can be installed as a built-in wall unit, dies so early with such regularity. It truly is intended to be a disposable item or it would be built to last beyond the warranty. When it works, it's truly lovely. It's when it dies that you feel really cheated. I've written many reviews. This is the first time I've deliberately written one because the product disappointed me so much.Oh, What happened? It started not turning on after pushing the start button. For about a day or maybe 6-7 times (have a visitor using it for coffee milk warm up this week), you could re-shut the door to get it to engage. Finally, slamming the door worked; then nothing worked. Nothing. We tried unplugging and, you know, anything to jimmy it into working. Nothing. I now have an antique FireKing glass measuring cup broken 'cause my hubby forgot to use a heat difuser on the burner under it to heat up the milk he needed to make my coffee. Very sweet habit of his, just sorry this sorry machine lead to the demise of a favorite antique.
