Worked like a charm. Much better than working with a tray.

After 4 years of using a cheap mud hawk, it finally broke at the handle. So I decided to invest in level5 for my drywall tools. This hawk was the last piece. Immediately I noticed the build quality difference and you shouldn’t be disappointed and you get what you pay for.

This makes mudding so much easier in my opinion. Quality is great and the grip is comfortable.

I expected better quality from LEVEL5, but this 13" drywall hawk has poor finishing. The edges of the aluminum plate are extremely sharp and not properly rounded or smoothed. When handling the hawk, the edges can easily cut your hands, which is unacceptable for a tool that is meant to be held and used continuously. In addition, the six recessed screws in the center look poorly ground and unfinished. The surface around them is rough instead of smooth, which makes the product look cheaply made. While the soft grip handle feels comfortable, the sharp edges and rough finishing around the screws show poor quality control. A professional drywall tool should not require the user to sand down edges just to use it safely.

Handle is plain brown. I’m guessing its some off shoot handle. It’s soft but not the one shown in the pictures. Hawk is good. Just didn’t exactly receive what I thought I was getting.
