Hi,These ear plugs are meant to reduce the decibel levels by 29 dBA. So if you were working in an environment of 100 db the effective sound level at your ears would be 71 dBA.  BUT according to OSHA you shouldn't assume the maximum amount of reduction, they say as a safe rule of thumb that you should consider the reduction to be only 50% of the listed reduction. So in the case of these ear plugs where the dBA is 29 according to OSHA you should consider them to be good for only 15 dBA.  So to go back to your question, of course they would work in a 29 to 32 dBA environment.  To give you an idea what sounds are at what dBA's - 20 dBA is Whispers or rustling leaves, 40 dBA is a Library, 60 dBA is typical office conversations, 80 dBA is a Garbage Disposal running or a Dishwasher, 90 dBA is a Food Blender or Busy Street, 100 dBA is a Jackhammer, Power Mower, an Outboard Motor on a boat, 120 dBA is Live Rock Music or a Chain Saw.Hope this helps...

I have never tried the Mack's Ultra ear plugs. I have used the 3M 1100 Foam Ear Plugs for several years now and love them! They are very comfortable and keeps the noise out.

I have been using the 3m 1100 plugs for sleeping and riding my Harley.I could use plugs that are just a little bigger.Any suggestions?

You may want to consider custom molded ones that are sized to your ear. I believe they sell something on Amazon or your doctor may even be able to refer you somewhere, I’m not sure. I worked somewhere that had a person come in, they take a mold and then over the next week or so they sent us the plugs. Downside is you only have one pair but on the plus side they are a comfortable and perfect fit with a one time purchase. Keep em clean and they can last years.
