Very nice blanket!
I was curious about this blanket after reading some of the comments, so I contacted the manufacturer. I was concerned that it maybe be some knockoff counterfeit , it is not. It is the real deal. I have posted below the response I got from the manufacturer, it makes sense. This blanket is softer than my 100% wool military surplus blankets that you can't get anymore (now all you can find is 90-70% wool). It is very warm, just don't believe the bs about sleeping only in a wool blanket by the fire in the dead of winter. In that case it is the fire that is saving your butt not so much the blanket. Go outside and test for yourself and see."The blanket was manufactured by FWM and is Merino wool. Our labeling does not differentiate the type of wool used in the product, only that it the product is wool (or a blend if that is the case). Not all our blankets are Merino wool, examples include the Pure and Simple blankets and the Foot Soldier blankets (those are 100% wool but not Merino). The merino wool used in our blankets is not the same as that used in apparel (usually a finer, more delicate fiber which would not be durable enough for a blanket). Our merino blankets are softer than our non-merino blankets. I hope this answers your questions and eases you concern about a "knock-off."It makes sense that a higher grade "softer merino wool" would be used for clothing, plus now that I look a lot of Merino wool clothing is not truly 100% wool. I mean do you really think that elastic stretchy stuff in the socks and base layer is wool. Just my two cents after looking into my blanket. Very happy with it.

100% fine woven wool product! MADE IN USA, too!!!
Very nice, exceptionally good, rich colors (the white stripes are more 'natural' color, not brilliant white) closely matching product photo. Weight is perfect, not Army blanket weight...but not something better suited to be a hanging tapestry. It has substantial thickness with a bit of loft. Typical classical Faribault weave and worth double the price paid here. Very clean, no abuse or wear...they are not used. Absolutely no odors other than a normal, clean neutral smell...no allergies or annoyances for me with this item! I'm using this KING size as a bedspread on a thicker QUEEN size bed, running the 108" length from foot-to-head...makes up good, draping down each side of bed about 18". I'm happy to be rid of that old fluff-matted polyester bedspread! It's just this and a sheet, with a matching 50x60 fringed throw to lay on for those few rare, cold, bone-chilling nights (see photo). I am extremely pleased with this 100% fine woven wool product! MADE IN USA, too!!!

Nice, But Check Twice
One: I love this blanket. An excellent value. Warm, yet breathes nicely, and works extremely well for layering. It is very handsome, and will compliment many decors with its wooly-goodness.Two: As many have stated, this thing is not Merino wool. Not even close. I love the scratchiness, but the wife and toddler refuse to touch this blanket (In fact, the toddler calls this the "ouchy-blanket"). We own MANY wool blankets, from recycled "eco-wool", to military surplus, to double-woven merino wool that are my favorite blankets on the planet. This blanket is best for wool aficionados, or at least folks who understand layering. Many people could not use this a directly on their skin, but only in combination with other things.

Great blanket
A very attractive blanket that's comfortable and very warm. Quality seems quite high and in the time I've had it (about 3 mos.) hasn't shown any indication of shedding or premature wear. The king size allows folding it over to double its thickness for even more warmth...nice.

Top quality virgin wool blanket. Dry clean or wash ...
Top quality virgin wool blanket. Dry clean or wash in your machine under 'wool' or 'hand-wash' setting. Air dry (no heat) only. Grows softer and fluffier after washing. Large enough to use as coat material (sewing). A bargain for the price!

Very comfortable temperature
A great weight - not too hot or too cold. Keeps you comfortable while sleeping and you won't throw it off during the night. The excellent heat regulation properties of wool's hollow fibers allow for the right body temperature. I really do feel more rested after using this blanket on my bed.

Handsome and warm, a classic plaid
It's quite handsome in nice olive green, white, and rust colored plaid. A substantial wool feel if a bit scratchy. Very warm. Would fit in well with cowboy bunk room decor. Mine is Shaker but I appreciate the warmth. Actually I am growing quite fond of this blanket.

Down alternative
Large enough for our cal king and not as bulky as our down comforter but still very warm. Looks good and seems to be well made.
