A jumpstart on a new perspective
I don't say this lightly, but reading this book created such a positive, insightful outlook on my life. I am not one for writing book reviews, but it would be a missed opportunity to not write a review for this book. As our days can become ordinary and mundane, this book helps you open up your mind to the limitless experiences that life has to offer. Not all of us can travel to coastal lands or take off work to island hop, but this book lets you realize the beauty in the world right around us. After reading this book, I have become incapsulated in seeking the little adventures in the city I live in.Flint offers a unique perspective on not becoming stagnant and really finding value in life. This is not a tale of easy adventures and thoughtless trips, this book is about Flint's trials and tribulations, with a hint of sarcasm that anyone can easily relate to. If you need a reason to jump start your adventurous mind, especially after these crazy 2 years, then pick up this book and you will be pleasantly surprised by your growing imagination and personal drive to seek authentic adventures.

Modern Day Stoic
I feel like this book was written by the beloved nephew of Ralph Waldo Emerson. It’s not what you might expect from a twenty-something surfing enthusiast. But it is what you might expect from a world-traveling young inventor with several patents to his name.Is it possible this could be required reading for my grandkids? Seems like a good candidate for either a beach getaway or an honors English class.Poignant and powerful, punchy and profound.I highly recommend not only reading but also savoring this book!

This book is an inspiration and a joy to read for anyone who lives an adventurous, examined life
I am 71 years old and a fellow adventurer and one who tries to live an “examined life” as well. My wife met Flint Mitchell (the author) at a literary dinner at Southern Methodist University here in Dallas and when she came home she said “I think you would really like this book”. I ordered it from Amazon and have been savoring the read ever since. This week I read the chapters: Health and Purpose, both very insightful. The book has been an inspiration to me and a joy to read. Certainly, the author is wise beyond his years…. It truly is all about the 10% that is NOT “inconsequential crap”, distraction and commentary.

Easy but meaningful reading; something of value for all readers
I bought this book, without knowing what to expect. Indeed, I was pleasantly surprised to read about Flint Mitchell's travels as well as what he learns about himself as he goes. His writing is well developed and easy to relate to. As I read, I found myself drifting back to years ago, when I too found pleasure in hiking solo in Kings Canyon, CA and other places Flint Mitchell described. Every reader will find something to relate to, more so if you like traveling and spend any time outdoors. What struck me most is that this is a book anyone can pick up and find relatable significance: It might be travel, surfing, hiking, or personal growth in the face of various challenges, all told with a humorous view of those obstacles thrown in Flint's path. This is a book that will cause the reader to think; you will find yourself picking up the book again and again to reread pages that brought comfort or maybe discomfort, or just to experience something more vividly one more time!A good read, I definitely recommend "Seeking Authenticity."
