Dust collection is good, lights are great!
Works great on my dewalt compound sliding saw! The lights alone are worth it!I came with carriage bolts and wimg nuts. mehI went to lows and found knows to put on bolts that were easier to take it on and off all the time. Found that in travel the wing nuts kept vibrating off.

Takes a little adjustment, but it works well
I have come to like this a lot. It needs some encouragement at times (meaning you smack the sides to get the dust to drop into the hole on occasion, but it sure does clear the particulates from the cut. A lot better than any of the built in dust collection for miter saws that I've seen. The light is a kind of an interesting deal. It works great but how do you turn it on? No switch. So maybe crawl across the floor and plug it in behind the saw every time you want to use it? Uh no. The solution I came up with was to tie it into my track lights over the saws so it comes on when I hit the wall switch. This was helpful: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YNYLX2 in getting that done. Without some system like that, the light is pretty difficult to operate. There are also foot switches you could use, but not super practical under a miter saw. I do encourage you to find a way to make it work. It sheds a lot of light on the subject. So much so, that the laser is a little harder to read.

It works.
As long as right-angle cuts are made, the Rousseau 5000 works as advertised on a Dewalt miter saw DWS779 mounted on DWX724 stand. Set up was easy. Even with no vacuum unit attached, the hood collects the dust that would otherwise make a mess everywhere, and channels it down to a dust port at the hood's lowest point. With a Rigid 5 hp vacuum attached to the hood’s dust port you can see the ambient dust motes hanging in the air actually migrate into the hood, showing how effective it is at catching dust. However, get away from cross-cuts and cut at angles of, say, 45 degrees, and you will end up with more sawdust escaping onto the stand and floor, because as the saw cuts it throws out dust to either side, and one side will face away from the hood. But the hood will still catch most of the sawdust, even at these extremes. The light is handy. The Rousseau 500 is expensive, in my opinion. A third of the cost of the actual saw. But it works as intended.

Excellent design & quality
I purchased this Rousseau 5000-L Lighted Dust Solution to keep dust out of my small workshop for a new DeWalt DWS779 miter saw I recently purchased. It is labeled as "Made In The USA", and the quality, design, fit and finish of the device makes this American proud. It's a quality product. Photos I've attached show how well it fits my saw and table. Installation instructions are minimal, but that stands to reason as applications vary so much. That being said, the basic information needed to make the install are clear, and the installation was a snap.A call out here, though, on the exhaust port from the base of the hood to a vacuum or dust removal system. Amazon recommends a POWERTEC 70136 4in to 2-1/2in Cone Reducer, so I purchased it. IT DOES NOT FIT. To Amazon's credit, they gave me a full refund on this item. If you look at the installation material that comes with the Rousseau, it will show that they recommend a 4" I.D. reducer, like one sold from Penn Industries(note attached photo). I just ordered that part from them. The POWERTEC item description says "4in", but it is NOT 4in I.D. Buyer beware. The LED lighting on the Rousseau is slick, and works well. One disappointment, though, is that it's not switched. I chose to not connect it to the iSocket Workshop Autoswitch that I purchased with the Rousseau, which is great for my vacuum, because it shuts-off shortly after the saw is shut off. I wanted to keep the work surface lit when the saw was not in use. My solution was to purchase an HBN Outside/Inside Wireless Remote Control for the LED light.Bottom line, I'm VERY HAPPY with the Rousseau unit, and very impressed with the design and quality. I see getting many years of use from it.

A common sense solution to a difficult problem.
Of all the dust generating machines in my shop, the chop saw reigns supreme. It does not produce the most sawdust, that honor being shared by the planer and the router table, but none of these others can aerosolize dust into the shop like the miter saw. I've tried numerous DIY contraptions to mitigate this problem with limited success. Hoping this dust shroud was at least no worse than my best effort, I plunked down the cash and bought it. What a pleasant surprise this turned out to be! I attached a dedicated large shop vac to it and it has been a major improvement. Do I still get a little stray dust? Yes. Is it significant? No, it's not.I highly recommend this as a practical solution for what is probably the bane of most woodworkers existence. Great little invention. Wish I had gone to it sooner.

What Was I Thinking?
The media could not be loaded. Update: The Rousseau company was unresponsive to a problem with the 4” vacuum connection port sucking the tent into the vacuum hose. This stopped air flow. My Pflux 3 HP exceeded the design. However it’s an easy fix. Remove the ring and outlet connection. Obtain a Powertec Mini Gulp and drop it in through the existing hole. No modifications or cutting needed. It now can handle a more powerful dust collection system. So I came across this lighted dust tent while searching for a method to reduce shop mess from my DeWalt 12” Cross Cut saw. I hit on this tent and ordered it. I assembled it in 10 minutes. I cut a bunch of boards and it was fantastic. I hooked it to my Laguna 3 Hp dust collector and nearly sucked the thing into oblivion. I inserted a loose 4 into 2-1/2” plastic reducer just placing it into the hole small side down. Boom! I still can’t believe how well it works. Highly recommend the lighted version just for the safety enhancement of seeing things better lending to accuracy as well. I love how it can be removed in 40 seconds and collapsed with two wing nuts. Don’t be a wing nut and wait any longer. Just joking. I love when stuff works.
