They do what was claimed. Each sock has gel pads on both inner and outer ankle bone projections for overall protection.

After years of not being able to wear certain hunting boots and hiking boots because of pain to my left lateral ankle this has proved to be a wonderful solution. I slipped this on, put on the hiking boots that had been killing my left ankle and hiked 3 miles up and down hills, no pain!! Finally a real easy solution for my problem. I will be buying more of these sleeves for sure.

If you have bony ankles and play hockey, these are for you! I love them.

Great for figure skating--just don't buy it if you have a men's foot.
