Don't see why not. It is kind of a sweet soy sauce.

Does this need to be refrigerated before opening?

I don’t know why people says no but you do need to keep it in refrigerator after opening! I confirmed it at Otafuku website.

Can this be used in Yakisoba?

Yes, you can use it for Yakisoba. This sauce is thicker and sweeter than yakisoba sauce. Some people like it that way.
