Not perfect, but pretty good.
On nails that are really really stuck, the tool will fail and then the hooks do not fully retract. Just press the trigger and they'll reset back in place. I only had issues with really, really stuck nails. I just used a pry bar to get them unstuck by a few millimeters and then used the nail remover to pull them out. I've extracted dozens of nails so far, and overall, I love love love this tool. Pulls out the nails with lots of force and violence. :) I'm using a small pancake compressor, 2 gallons, with 100PSI. No issue.

With ½"+ nail head raised and up to 120psi, you should be good to go
I purchase the nail remover to help disassemble pallets which, because of the twisted shank nails that were hammered into mostly hardwoods, were a royal PIA to disassemble. It was when I had to resort to a 2 1/2' pry bar for the worst nails that I realized I was working too hard. I first bought the nail "shooter" which pushed nails back through from the sharp tip and THAT tool was simply amazing. However, when I only had access to the *head* of the nail it was no good. I then got this tool and here's what I found: (1) You will need to have pryed out the nail at least ½" (preferably more) in order to get this tool's "claw" into position and have a chance at success. (2) Crank up your psi to the tool to the max recommended - 120PSI. Any less and your chances of removing the really stuck nails goes way down. (3) Because the upward ramming against the nail head is what is needed, if you don't have at least that ½" of space, it just won't work. SO, you may need to pry the nails a little more if the tool isn't having any success. (4) Smooth shank nails should be a breeze assuming, of course, a minimum of ½" gap (preferably more). That said, longer nails in harder wood will always be more of a challenge (5), the tool will leave indents in the wood as it "shoots" the nail up and out. Be aware of this if you want to preserve the surface of finer woods. (6) The tool is amazing, truly, if you remove a lot of nails. I was able to complete in 45 minutes what first took me 4 hours and a lot work and pain. SO, it is worth it? I am going to be making crafts with old pallet wood so I anticipate using the tool frequently. For me, the answer is yes. If I were to use it infrequently, the $150-ish price I paid would be a little steep.

Powerful tool - it will pull the nails out for you!
A very nice tool very powerful and works very well. Most eject and now this will actually pull it if you can get the claw under the head. It is surprising how hard and fast it’ll pop a nail out! I really like having this!

This may work on thin wood, but did not work at all for me.
This may work on thin wood, but did not work at all for me. A long crowbar did a better job.

Works good for nails you can get under
I bought this to pull nails on an old metal roof. I can tel you that it does not work for that. The claw is too thick and can’t get under nails. But does work great when the nails are slightly raised. And by it works I mean it’ll chuck the nail into the next state if you’re not careful.

Fun to use, only a little bit scarry
Fun to use, only a little bit scarry. Great for taking apart pallets.

Doesn't pull headless nails
The throat of the puller will not grip the nail if there is no head. Problem is, most rimes the nail head breaks off when you try to pull it and then this thing is useless.

I was amazed at how well it worked. If the nails are really old it sometimes pulls the nail head off. I pull apart alot of things to recycle and this has pulled out a ton of nails! I am sooooo happy I bought this. I recommend this to everyone as this has really saved my shoulder!
