If you think you want it, just buy it.
Coming from a mechanical background it wasn't as easy to install as stated. Took some time and some patience but when it's in there it's worth it. Great sound, noticeable power gain, all in all... good purchase.

Nice
I got this K&N after reviewing my options with the Turbo Kits Cold Air Intakes and Short Ram Intakes. One reason I chose the K&N is because it required the least modifications to the engine compartment (The Turbo Kits Intakes both required me to move the Auto Dipstick since my Forte SX is an automatic for the time being, also the short ram was not an option because of the auto dipstick). With that being said it was down to a choice between a Cold Air Intake from Turbo Kits or the K&N Typhoon, So i chose the Typhoon to avoid problems with hydrolock (since Washington State weather is a little bit unpredictable) And I prefer the K&N name over TK. It was not difficult to install (as long as you pay attention to the directions) I also found a helpful video on youtube. and don't drop any tools or parts in the engine compartment. Overall I am extremely Satisfied with the increase in performance there is a noticeable gain in pull than it had with the stock intake . The sound is freakin awesome to say the least especially between 2000-3000rpm and 5000-Redline. Oh and to top it off, my gas mileage has improved by 1-2 mpg on average in city driving. Worth it, worth it, worth it.

It can work on optima too!
I installed this on my 2009 kia optima lx 5 speed manual. 2.4 liter just like the forte sx, so I knew I could make it happen. They could have simplified the instructions, but I was able to cope. Stock, my optima was too quiet. I needed some noise, but not from the exhaust. Inline fours to me sound.....well, not as good as a boxer four, but intake grumble and roar can be had from any engine configuration. It's pricey IMO but totally worth it for me. I also have the k&n pre filter charger for this unit. This makes it.The sound 1/2 throttle and more sounds aggressive, even from as low as 1500 rpm all the way to redline. Some of my fav rpms with this are 1500-2000, 3000, 4000 on up to 6000+ well, basically all! Throttle response feels slightly improved. Sound is awesome. Mileage has varied. I have achieved 34 mpg once on a highway trip going 65mph. My car is lowered with H&R springs and alignment is spot on. As long as I keep my foot out of it, I can keep my previous mileage before installing this. If you love the sound and drama of engines I would definitely go for it! It's loud but not obnoxious, just a nice perfect level of performance noise.
