Insufficient power.
The biggest problem with these multiport devices (and I've purchased quite a few) is there's a finite amount of power available. Most multiport adapters will hit their limit well before the last port is utilized. I connected two 2.5 inch 5 terabyte hard drives to the USB C ports. One drive began emitting a knocking sound which did not cease until the second drive was disconnected. Additional drives weren't even recognized. What's the point of having a 14 port adapter that only provides enough power for one or two devices? On the plus side, it makes for a sharp-looking desk ornament.

WOW WHAT A GREAT HUB!
I work in a public school in California. My school district used Federal funds to issue us teachers a new laptop to replace our old ones. I got a new Macbook Air, which of course only comes with 2 Thunderbolt ports. This HUB was the answer to my needs to interface with older projectors and other devices no longer supported by Apple ports like VGA. However, it ALSO has 2 USB c ports, something that the other hubs do no have. The USBc power input is also very handy when hooked up to a 100w charger. It keeps my Macbook charged while I project countless student presentations. It is also very sturdy with some heft to it.

So far, so good!
I ordered this after returning a thunderbolt dock that did not provide adequate power to my laptop, which turned into a $300 hub at that point. So I decided to just get a hub instead. I love all the usb c & usb 3 ports this thing has as well as the audio port. The usb c connector cable is decent length. I am currently just using it for network and the usb ports so I can't speak to the video on it. I prefer to use my video card directly. It been working great, no issues, no errors. Simple plug and play. Low profile design. I may come back and update it with 5 stars but I need to give it a few months of use to see how it fares. I do wish that it was externally powered since it does have alot of ports but I only have some minor things connected so it hasn't been an issue for me.

Plug power into laptop not the hub.
For the first few months I had every single cable plugged into the hub including the power cable so it was super easy to disconnect one cable and walk off with the laptop. The only thing connected to the laptop was the short cable coming off the hub. That was great but the hub and laptop constantly lost power. I would unplug the power cable and plug it back in but often the laptop battery was fully dead by then. One day I needed to pull up print at home tickets, laptop was dead, running late and I thought I am buying one of these that doesn't have this problem. Asked a question on Amazon, which one of these maintains power? Someone explained how they plug theirs in. **Smacks palm on head** Just plug the power into the laptop and the hub into the laptop and everything works fine. Nothing has lost power since then. I have to unhook two cables to walk off with the laptop, easy peasy. I rest the laptop on the hub, it's along the back of the laptop, so laptop has air flow underneath to help avoid overheating.

Limited functionality
I really wanted this to work as there are almost no USB-C hubs online that serve all these purposes and have so many inputs. I wanted one dock so when I connected and disconnected my MacBook Pro, I only had to mess with one connection (one USB-C). Unfortunately, this would not operate my very basic HD LG monitor through either USB-C port or HDMI port. In total, I was trying to hook up 3 USB devices, 1 monitor, 1 ethernet cable, and the power source. It would only wake up the monitor if the power source was plugged directly into the computer (so two USB-C hookups, not one) and HDMI never woke up monitor unless the MacBook Pro was open as well as plugged in (who wants an open laptop with a docking station?!). Unfortunately didn't work as advertised and has to go back. 2 stars just for having so many ports.

Didn't work well enough for me to keep it
Staying connected was an issue. I plugged my keyboard and HDMI connector to my monitor. I wasn't sure I was getting full speeds from the ethernet port. It was very finicky. Moving it would sometimes make it lose connection. I eventually returned it.

Doesn’t appear actually to pass 4K
Product seems fine, it despite claiming to, I see no evidence that it can pass 4K video from a new M1 MBA to a 4K monitor. Might be an M1 thing, but just thought I’d mention it.

Handles a Lot of Accessories!
The newer laptops come with few slots to plug in needed accessories. Two of my slots are taken up with my chill pad and the connection to the large monitor that I use with the laptop. That frustrated me considerably until I found this hub.I'd tried several other hubs but they didn't have as many slots as this one does and didn't have as much variety. I'm very pleased with the versatility of this one. I'm using it with a Lenovo laptop.I can plug in my Samsung phone either to charge or to transfer my photos to my laptop while a number of other accessories, devices, or drives are connected at the same time.Although this is 11 inches long, it's lightweight enough to take along in my computer backpack when I travel.Look at the graphic in the seller's description to see a list of what can be plugged into this docking station. It might be helpful if they had small labels across the top to help you find the right slot to plug something into. I cut out the back of the box to refer to. It tells you details on each one. Example: "The audio is 3.50mm audio and mic. It can be output and input simultaneously."
