Tween

I adore Wye Oak's 2011 album Civilian and was disappointed by their shift in sound in 2014's Shriek. This album of songs that are outtakes from their transition in sound 'tween Civilian and Shriek actually stands really well on its own. The standout track is the final one, Watching the Waiting -- catchy and up tempo. Great music that's about as far from an outtakes album as you can get.

This is a great album, lots of variety in the songs. It's hard to describe music well. I like lots of their other stuff and this is no exception. passionate, melodic, soulful and driving.

TWEEN proves once again that this is Jenn Wasner's world and we just live in it. Wasner's voice takes center stage in TWEEN and it's perfect blend of honey and rust make her one of the most dynamic and interesting band leaders in modern pop music. The album as a whole is underpinned by Andy Stack's perfect synth-pop rhythms, and sonic fields, which serve as a warm bath for Wasner's vocals to bask in.Everything on this record is gorgeous and tracks like "If You Should See" and "Watching The Waiting" are startlingly upbeat, catchy tunes you'll find yourself playing on repeat, again and again. This is not to say the darkness of CIVILIAN is completely gone but just that TWEEN showcases Wye Oak's emotional/dynamic range in a way their past work had not.

I adore this band but two songs on this particular album echo my life right now

Much more of a fan of their first few albums, up to Civilian, but this isn't bad by any means. For a duo they can pump out some really wonderful and complex music, just wish they'd go just a little lighter on the electronics.

Love the album. My favorite of all their albums, though Civilian is really good as well. Guitar work is really unique. enjoy....

I would have bought it for "Watching the Waiting" alone.
