Well made, very simple to operate.
I am a big fan of Schlage locks, have all Schlage products on all my doors. This was an upgrade in color and style.Installation was simple and the instructions were very easy to decipher. If you ever installed a lock, deadbolt etc. this is no different. This is powered by a 9 volt battery, the keypad is NOT back lit, the keys are lit up by a very bright white LED light that shines down on the numbers from above. There is a little overhang at the top that is not noticeable and that is where the LED is positioned. When you press the Schlage printing at the top that is what turns on the light. The handles come uninstalled on the posts, so depending on the orientation, left hand or right hand door the handles are mirror images of each other so a inside handle on the left hand door would by a outside handle on a right hand door. Once you know what position you need you slide on that handle. There is a release pin if you install the wrong handle by mistake. The instructions are as the photo shows, the point of the curve points down. This allows for up to 19 different 4 number codes to be programmed into the memory. Programming is very easy. The lock comes with a programming number which can be changed if you so desire. After you enter the programming number there are a few simple steps to entering the 4 digit code you want to use with the lock. Its simple to erase a code or erase them all if you so desire. The programming code is on the instruction booklet and there are decals on the inside of both sides of the door lock, so in the worst case scenario you would have to remove the lock from the door to look at the inside to get the number should you lose it.Reading some other reviews there seems to be some confusion on the battery and what happens if it goes dead.First off once the battery starts to weaken the green light that usually flashes will flash red, there will also be a slight delay in the lock unlocking from when you enter the code. So there is a visible indication of the battery getting weak and a physical indication of it taking longer to unlock the lock. Now in the even the battery happens to totally die, well there are 2 pins on the very bottom just under the handle, these 2 posts are battery jumper ports, you take a 9 volt battery and touch it to the posts, this will provide power to unlock the door. This ONLY provides power to enter the code, this does not automatically unlock the door, so someone just can't take a 9 volt battery and open the lock, they still need the code.I would not recommend having a keyless lock as my only means of entry because it is still electrical and there are no guarantees and should this fail you want to have another access into your home. This is used on my inner garage door into my home, should this lock fail I still have front door access with a key lock. I wish Schlage would have had a key in the handle as a backup on this model. Even the locksmith I took my other lock to so it would be keyed to match all my other locks was surprised this had no key to bypass the lock should the electronics fail. This does have a lock / unlock feature as well, meaning you can turn the deadbolt that the lock will remain unlocked, that you can come and go without entering a code, or you can have it in the locked position that you must enter a code each time you use it. This is a nice feature because I am in and out of my garage all the time and the idea of entering a code each and every time would not be appealing and that I can leave it unlocked works well.Overall I am very pleased with how smooth the actions is, how easy the installation was and how simple it is to enter new or delete old codes. This looks amazingly sharp against my red doors, I only wish the numbers were backlit like they have in some of the other models.

5 Month Review: Thumbs Up!
This entry lock is continuing to be an excellent purchase to replace a cheaper one on my garage entry. As a swap out to the old lock, assembly was quick and simple. I was worried about a couple of comments and found both “issues” to be nonexistent. When dark tapping the top of the lock turns on the light up keys and there is more than enough time to enter my 4 digits before the light went out. I like the option of flipping the interior lock to keep the door in unlocked mode if I’m in and out repeatedly. Overall the lock is beefy and good looking (like the rest of the building). Programming was 10x easier than the previous one that was in there.

Love this lock!!
Bought this door lock for a rental room I have downstairs to secure extra privacy and I love it! It was very easy instructions to set up, and it works great. The appearance is very sleek, the keypad touch is great as well, and it is sturdy! I recommend!

Works well and is secure
We are using this on a vestibule door to ensure our packages are kept safe. It’s nice that it can store two codes. So far has been fine in torrential downpours.

Pretty good for the price
This is a decent residential entry lockset. It looks very nice and quality is about average for this grade. There are some cast aluminum parts inside and would certainly not hold up for heavy use in a commercial environment. It's fairly secure, but my entry door has a big glass panel in it, so I rely on other things for that. The keypad works well, the beep can be turned off (I have too many beeps in my life) and it has several useful programing functions. Also, if the battery fails and you're outside, it has two small contacts that a 9 volt battery can be applied to and allow entry. Keep in mind that the thumb lever is a switch, not mechanical, so if the board fails, the door won't unlock (or lock). There is plenty of warning when the internal battery is failing, but you should consider changing them annually or more often depending upon your use and climate. Installation is typically not very difficult, and programming isn't much trouble either. Pay close attention to how the wire that passes through the door is routed; it can easily be pinched by the rotating mechanism. When looking at the unit from the inside, the wire should go upwards and to the left. You'll see a channel that the thumb turn lever wires are in; that's where it goes. But then, suddenly: the one I received was inoperable. The outside handle would not operate the latch under any condition. This operates by a small motor that causes a pin to engage a slot and allow the outside handle to turn the latch; a type of clutch, if you will. The motor is driven from the PC board that the keypad is attached to. I ran through the included troubleshooting guide, which, in my case, told me to call customer service. They confirmed that I had diagnosed the problem correctly and immediately sent me another. Before I boxed it back up, I pulled the back cover off to see if I could see anything obvious. The small connector socket for the wires that drive the lock/unlock motor had broken off the PC board and been replaced using superglue. Soldering is the recommended practice when attaching things to PC boards, and superglue is normally used for pranking people you don't like, so that was it. I soldered it back on properly and it then worked fine. Obviously, this did not come this way from the factory, and I suspect that it got that way through some sort of post-production tomfoolery. That said, I'm going with it.

We have a lot of these on our property...
They look good and are easy to install and use. I have had two needing replaced after a couple of years, both were in a lot of direct sunlight.

Good keyless lock with basic features.
Very easy to install on standard doors. The only part that could be difficult is making sure front and back face plates are lined up with each other, which is not that difficult. Very easy to set the lever handle direction (left or right) within the lock. It feels sturdy. The lock features are pretty basic. No wifi or bluetooth or built-in alarm for tampering or brute force. That's fine; I just wanted a sturdy keyless lock from a good brand. I would purchase this product again.

Schlage is quality and reliability
I purchased the Schlage Century smart deadbolt for my front door and have been really happy with its performance. So purchasing this lock from Schlage was a no brainer when we installed a separate entrance door. Installation was super simple, same as the other smart lock. There are no smart features with this lock, no alerts or anything, but for what it is, it’s a great lock. The black looks super sleek, especially with our french door. I was a little concerned during install when I saw that the two handles sit at different heights (see picture) but everything has worked perfectly. No issues so far that other reviewers have mentioned so hopefully this one lasts a while.
