Looking to get your feet wet on answering some difficult questions?
I think Paul Copan covered a wide range of questions that people will have. Some people sadly have probably not considered the questions because they've never had friends that disagreed with them. The more and more relationships that we have with people that think differently than we do the more we will be pushed into answering more and more difficult questions that we may have never considered before. I think this book will give you some ideas about how to answer these questions. You will have to do more research but he gives many helpful footnotes to help you get started in doing deeper research on these questions. Surely if you're talking to people that don't think exactly like you, which should be every believer, this book will be a great help to you and also could be a great help to those who are seeking and have never had anyone give them good solid answers. I found this book to be quite helpful.

Misleading Title...
Based on the title and cover of this book, one could easily think it is a lay-level book geared towards lay-level skeptics in a casual setting, like, oh I don't know, a coffee shop. Instead, the author answers many tough philosophical questions regarding the truthfulness of Christianity and God, but I have a hard time believing this is "coffee talk". The questions in this book seem more like the type one would encounter on a university campus. Not only are the questions (and answers) higher level than one would expect in a Starbucks encounter, there isn't even anything such as advice on how to share the faith in a coffee shop setting or how to start a conversation in a coffee shop setting. In other words, the title is largely irrelevant to the content. But this is a good book, but this book could have easily been named something else, such as "When God goes to philosophy class" or something.

Concise and Compelling Answers!
Paul Copan answers difficult, and common questions concisely and convincingly! Some chapters in this book are better than others, but overall it is truly “a guide to everyday Apologetics.” I was very impressed with chapters 15 and 16. I honestly think they are worth price of the book alone. The question of whether Jesus was mistaken about “this generation” not passing away has bothered me personally, and I’m sure many other bible readers. In those chapters, Copan gives the most concise but compelling summary of a partial preterist interpretation of Matthew 24 I have seen. He provides helpful summary charts in his other chapters as well such as those comparing the Bible’s Holy Wars to Islamic Jihad. Memorizing the points in those charts would be sufficient for most people you encounter who would raise that objection. His chapters over being born gay, and gay marriage make good points, and are helpful overall. For its brevity you can’t beat it. But Ryan Anderson’s book Truth Overruled does a much more thorough job, though it is book length. In short, get this book! It is well worth the price!

A Good Look At Objections to the Christian Faith
This is a short (202 pages), but solid volume dealing with some of the main objections to Christianity. The author, Dr. Paul Copan, does a masterful job of addressing such issues as the following: Is it OK to Lie to Nazis, Why Is God So Arrogant and Egotistical, and Don't People From All Religions Experience God? In addition, this book deals with such hot topics as whether or not people are born gay, whether or not miracles are unscientific, and several others.Although the title might imply that this contains simplistic answers, that is not the case. The author provides thorough responses to these and many other issues. This is a book well worth reading and sharing with others. It is a good one for anyone who has disagreements with the Christian faith, anyone honestly exploring what the true worldview is, and those who are already Christians and are looking to solidify their defense of the faith.

Helpful discussions on hot potato issues
Paul Copan is a reliable guide as he deals with matters of faith and practice and social issues. What should we say when somebody tells us "if that's good for you, then good for you, I have my own way?" Or what if somebody says "As long as you don't hurt anybody and it's in the privacy of your own home, it's okay?"Or what if somebody raises questions about the morale of the appreciate it he? How is God's command for the Israelites to wipe out the Canaanites any better than the jihad of Islam? What's wrong with gay marriage? How can we believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation what other religions have good moral teachings also? What is so special about the miracles of the Bible what other religions claim miracles? These questions are more or dealt with in a kind, careful, compassionate way by Copan. This is a good book for Christians to read before they go to Starbucks and have conversations about spirituality with friends or acquaintances.

Good responses to several important issues and accusations raised against Christianity. I think he goes a little too far in his claim that Israel always or almost always means the church when used in the epistles. The context and other exegetical considerations shows this is not always the case. Copan's resolution of the problem of Christ's return in his generation is his weakest. Gleason Archer's answer seems to me to be much more reasonable (Encyclopedia of Biblical Difficulties). We need to look at the meaning of the word "generation" more than to speculate about which particular events Jesus was referring to in his description of coming events. Otherwise, a very valuable and helpful Christian defense particularly for common non-academic discussions.

Para quem já leu True for You but not for me, vai entender do que estou falando.

Well laid out stand alone chapters.
Arrived early and in great shape I couldn't be happier. Paul Copan wrote 'is God a moral monster' which is possibly my favourite Christian Appolegitics book of the year. So far this one is well thought out and comprehensive. Each chapter can be referenced by topic of interest and you wouldn't feel lost having not read previous chapters.
