Do they contain any metal? Are they safe for an mri machine?

We haven't tested them with an MRI machine before but there are no metal or magnetic components to our earplugs.

Would these work for protection while shooting?

If the ear plugs are formed correctly they are great for outdoor shooting. I would hesitate to use them, without ear muffs, for indoor range work .

How exactly do you mold them to your ear? Do you just heat them and put them in your ear?

They guide you through it step by step but yes, you heat them up in hot water, let them cool a little, and then press the part that molds into your ear.

Would these work for someone who has Autism who needs to reduce the level of noise while out in crowds?

I use these earplugs several times per week, so I can say they definitely muffle harmful noise to a safe level. They will take the "edge" off of crowd noise, but I can't say whether they would be satisfactory for someone with Autism. The molding process for these plugs is relatively simple, and they feel secure in the ear... it's easy to forget they're in there.
