WHY THIS IS THE BEST BRAND DESPITE OCCASIONAL BREAKAGE
This is the best set for variety and value.I have tried so many brands and these are the only brand that delivers ALL of the following--the right amount of cold for long enough-freeze fast enough-are comfortable and flexible enough-lightweight enough-the right size and shape for the job (this brand has so many size options that are perfect for different areas)These work just right for my migraines and swollen joints.I have to put it in a pillow case because placing it directly in the skin is too much. You want a thin, dry layer of soft fabric between the ice cold contents and your skin. Anything wet or plastic will conduct the cold too much to external skin and make it feel like too much cold but a thin layer of soft, dry fabric will protect your skin while allowing the cold to sink deep into your tissues.Durability- it is true that these won't last forever. However, the other brands with thicker exterior are useless to me, they are way too heavy and inflexible to wrap around joints or my forehead and they impede the amount of cold you get into the deeper tissues which makes those kinds wholly ineffective for me. This brand is much more flexible, effective and useful but the down side is that they will break down eventually. I get at least a hundred uses out of them though. They get squished and squeezed and re-frozen and yeah, eventually the lining breaks. It's non-toxic filling. It's never been that big of a deal for me. These are also more affordable than most other kinds so I just have a few that I keep on hand so when one breaks, (which is super rare considering I use things almost every day and I lose one about once a year) it's just not a big deal for me. I prefer having a few anyway so I never have to worry about running out of already frozen ones during a bad migraine.I literally couldn't cope without these and I hope they keep selling them. I love all the different size options. Take care of it, don't be super rough with it and it will last you quite a long time.

Never will I buy anything but these for surgeries. I'm repeat customer.
LONG BUT INFORMATIONAL REVIEW FROM REPEATING CUSTOMER*update for those who say the packs freeze their skin*I wrap mine in bread towels or really thin old used t-shirt. Roll it up in the bread towel (the ones you use for rising yeast) or t-shirt or even a thin small pillow case works, thin so it still allows the ice cold temp to release, but not burn your skin. Hope this helps. Also the packs at the seams do eventually rupture and the gel can make a mess hence the bread towel or covering of your choice, to keep it maintained and not get everywhere.NO, they don't use the same thick plastic they used to use. But at the price of replacing them for what they do? I keep buying!!! In fact buying ANOTHER set again 5 yrs later (my last set i boughg 5 yrs ago is finally on its last leg per say) for my foot surgery and another cervical neck surgery w/ opposote hip bone graph coming up.Ive tried so many others and they just either do not last cold wise more than 45 min max 2 hrs but these lil suckers, will stay cold closer to 6 hrs if frozen but yet plyable if you smash it up a little. I will upload videos of a few things after I receive my new set.I've had numerous other surgeries. Numerous as has my husband (teeth, jaw, rotator cuff, meniscus). Without these I don't think either if us could have made it through on pain meds alone. Husband had 18 teeth pulled at the same time (a car pulled out in front of him on his motorcycle and busted all his teeth, jaw bone and dental bones in about 12 places) and these helped him survive that pain. He said no other ice pack could have helped him through it and it even helped more than the pain meds / anti-inflamatories like ibuprofen/tylenol even the rotating oxycodones and morphine immediate release pills didnt help like these ice packs did. They also work great during sleep while in menopause. Only thing I didn't like about this order (my 3rd purchase) is the largest of the three the plastic is so loud it wakes my husband at night so I just stick to the other two. The middle size is perfect for my cervical fusions as well as his face as they are long and thin to wrap around jaw line or around the neck I've had 2 cervical fusions and another to come. Also great length to put under your shirt (wrapped of course) and snuggle to at night when having severe hot flashes all noght long every 5 min.Best part is they actually freeze. Not like ice cubes (close though) yet bendable and last a long time (sometimes still cool after a 6 h-7 hr sleep.I have tried sooo many other brands, but this is by far the best if you need something that holds chill for hours not just 20-30 minutes maybe 2 hrs if lucky, like I've needed.Especially when they did my bone graph I used the long one on my neck and the big one on my hip bone. I will never buy any other ice pack as long as these are available. I even take them with me to the hospital when I have surgeries or procedures, road trips for hot flashes and double benefit I put in my cooler drink carrier so if out and about even at an 8 hr drive, they still work plus made my cans soda and bottled water so cold they had crystals in them.Seriously for the money to even replace and your exhausted with 20 ice packs trying to keep up frozen / lasting long enough stress....just buy these! You will thank yourself.

Excellent cold packs
Well made, great as cold packs, they get really cold and stay cold at least 30 minutes. They remain flexible when frozen. Versatile sizes, can make one of them fit just about anywhere on your body. I have not had any problem with them leaking when used as cold packs.I do not use plastic gels packs as hot packs, so I canʻt comment on how these perform for heat. Plastic gel packs are much more likely to rupture when heated, they get hot spots and can easily burn you. All plastics are fat soluble (they are made from oil/petroleum) and because of this when you heat them then lay them on your skin, plastic molecules leach out of the pack and into your skin, ultimately entering your blood stream. Since the human body did not evolve to consume plastic (we donʻt have the necessary enzymes), plastics we are exposed to in the modern world are essentially poisonous toxins. Studies show that Americans pee out immense amounts of plastic molecules every day, and some of these compounds have been found to promote diseases; specifically cancers, thyroid dysfunction, infertility, weight gain and diabetes. A gel pack that is frozen is more inert and much less likely to leach out plastic molecules. If you want a hot pack, chose a clay bead or a grain bag style hot pack, your body will thank you.
