An insightful, human-friendly companion walking the path...
My dogs and I enjoy listening to Derek’s “Tao Talks” on YouTube. As soon as my dogs hear Derek’s voice, they come join me for the talk. Each talk has been a blessing: sometimes reassuring that I am on the path, at other times the light as to why I feel frustrated, and often the catalyst to cultivate a higher integration and walk with the Tao.The Tao of Tranquility is no exception. Like his other books, this one is filled with gently delivered insight as he interprets the Qingjing Jing wisdom into language the human being can understand and experience.I find Derek presents a refreshing perspective and great companionship along the spiritual journey. His writing is down to earth and applicable to daily life as well as work situations. Derek shares his experiences as a cultivator of the Tao and creates the space for others to learn and grow.Bilingual and bicultural, Derek translates the Classical Chinese language into user-friendly English. In the Tao Talks, he explains the original meaning and how the Sages applied the wisdom in ancient times. Then he brings it into our modern world providing a bridge between East and West as well as connecting ancient sages with today's human experience. If you haven't tapped into Derek Lin's work, I suggest you do!

How To Conquer Desire and Find Inner Tranquility
I feel sometimes that we live in a distraction base society, one filled with insatiable desire and suffering. This may be Derek Lin's most powerful book because he illuminates the underlying desires and how to dispel them. He gives us hope by showing how though our faults my seem impossible to overcome, through stillness and tranquility it becomes possible to discard troubling thoughts by directing attention. Through the ancient stories he shares, the lessons become relevant in application to everyday modern life. This is a must read for anyone seeking peace of heart and mind, and to let go of those self-destructive, desire driven, unhealthy habits that cause us to stumble along the way. It is a must for any serious Tao Cultivator. Since you can read it for free through Kindle Unlimited, I hope that you will give it try.

Derek Lin has done it again!
This Tao/Buddhist combo is as fascinating as it is intriguing given the dates. But most of all, Derk Lin has made The Way comprehensible when words cannot really explain what The Way is. So we read and practice and practice and go back and read some more, the never ending process of learning/yang and being/yin.
