Good for at least Lake Superior's South Shore near Marquette and Munising, Michigan.
I've only boated with this chip on the south side of Lake Superior's east end--from Huron Islands west of Big Harbor, to Grand Marais that's east of Munising. I watched carefully for the rocks marked with asterisks, but found fewer few by sight. Had to trust they were there, and that my GPS was properly synchronized--which it appeared to be, based on other landmarks. This is my first exposure to Navionics, and I'm used to the full information provided by Lake Master chips. However, this chip provided enough for me to navigate past shoals and points and stay in water deep enough for safe travel, and I put over 200 water miles on while using it. Since I wasn't planning on heading far out into Lake Superior, this chip was OK to use, given it marks depth lines 30' and shallower near shore. In some sections, it gives the (seemingly) random depth soundings of deeper water, but nothing like the great detail I'm used to with the Lake Master chip for the west end of Lake Superior near Duluth, MN. This Navionics chips takes much longer to load its charts than my Lake Master, but perhaps that's because it covers so much more area. I like that the individual paper maps' boundaries appear to be laid over the digital lake map. It gives me more confidence that any rocks or obstacles or channels or hazards are likely going to show up on it. It was more expensive than I needed, given I was only boating the Marquette and Munising areas of Michigan's Upper Penninsula. I'm hoping other boating trips will help justify its cost, and that's likely, given I'd like to boat Lake Michigan and Devil's Lake and Oahe (both in the Dakota's). Maybe I'll end up saving some money by not having to buy other chips. But without the 1' or 3' depth gradations that Lake Master's chips provide, it's hard to believe the two brands are equivalent. If it turns out this chip cover's Lac La Croix in great detail (on the border between Ontario and Minnesota), then I'll be more impressed. I boat there on occasion with my Lake Master, and the detail isn't what I'd like.

Displays other Marinas and other locations. To visit on the water.
Purchase this for my Lowrance 7 elite HDI. Just for normal GPS & Depth. Wow this thing is beautiful and accurate, I love it. It gave me the confidence to drive during the night and or during the rain.
