Green Mountain Grills Davy Crockett Thermal Blanket,gray GMG 6012

My GMG Davy Crockett is small and struggles to get to higher heats especially if it's cold outside.I got this "blanket" and it gets my Davy Crockett to temp so quickly and I'm going through a lot less pellets now because it's holding temps better with the better insulation. I live in Southern California where it's never very cold and this still had a big impact for me so I can't imagine how much more helpful it would be for people in the Midwest or North where it gets much colder.Highly recommend it even if you're not in colder climates because the insulation alone makes it worth the money in pellet savings!

This fit my Trek smoker perfectly. I tried smoking a roast on a 0° F day and ended up with a burnt offering and burned thru and entire hopper of pellets in 3 hours. This really helps to keep the heat inside the smoker body so that the fire pot doesn't have to work so hard to maintain a temperature. Just based on pellet usage alone I suspect this will pay for itself.

The cover was easy to install. It seems to have decreased the amount of wood used during the cold days. I smoked a brisket in sub freezing temperatures and it was a noticeable difference. I was originally concerned that because I would be using less wood pellets, I would have less smoke, but in reality, it’s equal to the amount of smoke you would have if it was a warm day and you did not have the cover. I would consider taking this off on a warm or hot day unless you were going for the oven effect.

I love everything about my smoker/grill. Order the thermal blanket it will really come in handy if you use winter months. I leave mine on year round. It reduces pallet use too. Great buy, 👍🏾
