Best Heavy Duty Utility Knife I Have Used
This is the best snap-blade utility knife that I've used. Funny, yesterday I was discussing how much I like this tool with a friend over lunch. My friend said that he really likes the Lennox Tradesman Locking Utility Knife, also sold by Amazon. (When I remember how to link to Amazon products within the page I will update with the link.) We have different needs: he owns an HVAC company and puts his knife to heavy use. Professionally, I am an electrical engineer and my hobby is woodworking. I also use the Utility Knife for home projects. My friend needs a strong blade; sharpness is less critical for his purpose. I need a sharp blade; there are different tools I use for heavier cutting. Pros ------------------- +They mean it when they say "Locking". Unlike other utility knives I've used, the blade will not slip in this one. +Integrated blade snapper. The red plastic end-plug has a slot the fits over the blade tip like a shoe, covering the point and exactly the right depth to snap off the old blade. +Feed good in the hand. +Stainless construction. +Easy blade changes. Cons -------- -The blade snapping slot in the red plastic end plug could be marked so that it is easier to see: I struggle to see a <1mm slot in red plastic in anything other than bright light. Usually, I mark it with a Sharpie. -The gray color looks cool, but makes the tool more difficult to find inside my tool bag. Comparison --------------- At this same time I bought the NT Utility Knife, I also bought an OLFA 5003 L-1 18mm Ratchet-Lock Heavy-Duty Utility Knife, also from Amazon. This blade will stay locked, but only after you take several turns on the thumb wheel. They use interchangeable blades.

NT Cutter unparalleled quality and performance
Anyone who has ever had an NT Cutter of any kind knows that these quality built, precision made instruments have no equal. Japanese engineering and precision, Japanese craftsmanship, Japanese steel. There is no better cutter on the market. I use mine in place of a pocket knife. Think about it: When the blade dulls, just snap it off and instantly you have a razor sharp blade again. No more dull knife blade, no more time consuming blade sharpening. On top of that, I have found this cutter will outperform a traditional pocketknife at nearly any task you can throw at it. One of the best things I ever did was switching to one of these to use as a pocket knife. It goes in my pocket when I get up in the morning, and stays there until I go to bed at night. And I never leave home without it.

Good, avoid using the built-in blade snapper
This utility blade comes with a blade that can be snapped off in small segments so one can have a fresh blade faster. DANGER - Do not use the built in blade snapper! Instead, use pliers to snap off a piece of blade while keeping a firm grip on the blade piece. I almost severely injured myself because the built-in plastic blade snapper is not intuitive and let the RAZOR blade FLY through the air after snapping it off! Otherwise, this is a good little utility blade.

My favorite NT Cutter.
NT makes good cutter and this is my favorite one among them. Very good quality, automatic lock (when the blade is pushed in there is a noticeable click) and easy to slide the blade in and out. I tried a few NT Cutters with different mechanism (screw type, multi blade 'magazine', etc) and like this one the most for its simplicity and easy of use. The actual red plastic part that holds the blade seems to be fragile when you take it out (it is made of thin plastic) but I never had a problem with it so I trust NT Cutter that it is well designed. My guess is that this is how the auto lock works.

Excellent build quality
This may be a couple bucks more than its competitors, but the quality is far superior to any other that I have used in the past. This is not a lightweight disposable tool, but is durable and holds up like a tool should. This is my second purchase of the same model, not because it wore out after two years of near daily use, but because I was so impressed with it and wanted another for a second tool bag.

Broke with in 5 mins of use. Blade fly ...
Broke with in 5 mins of use. Blade fly off in the event. Could have hurt anyone. This all happened while cutting foam with a brand new cutter. DO NOT BUY THIS. It can cause real injury.

Best Utility Knife Until....
I've always used the traditional utility knife with the blade that sits between two sides of the handle. I decided to try this for a project to cut some 1/2" foam core figuring I could extend the knife more and I could. It's all metal except for a few plastic parts. About the third time I used it the red piece which pops out of the back of the knife that you use to snap the blades off broke. So now I have to use a plier to snap off the blade. I tried to contact the company in Japan to see if they would show some customer service by sending me a replacement for the red piece. Never heard back from them. I am going to try just now to see if Amazon can help. For now I'll say 3 stars.

Estilete muito bem confeccionado (alumínio) , robusto e com um bom corte. A lamina fica bem travada para o corte.
