Nifty little book
Nice easy read. Very clear instructions on how to build your own quality dog agility equipment as opposed to buying a flimsy set elsewhere. Buying all of the pieces and (minimal) tools necessary isn't probably going to save you money in the end. But it's nice to be able to build your own equipment that you can cater to your dog's needs. Nice flexibility and options on the construction plans. Photos could be a bit bigger/higher resolution, but instructions are very clear. Yes, you could probably poke around the internet and find plans for free, but this is a nice collection of all the plans you need to build just about any standard agility equipment out there. I'm having lots of fun building them myself!

Excellent Five Star! Dog Agility Equipment Construction Instructions
This book is an excellent guide to build quality equipment for the backyard and it was so easy!I began a google search to purchase dog agility equipment and as I suspected agility equipment can be very expensive when purchased new. Then I stumbled across this EXCELENT Book titled Dog Agility Equipment Construction Instructions by Ann Embry. I decided what the heck; I am going to buy the book and see if I can make the equipment rather than buy it.I am so excited to say that I DID IT! I made the weave poles, jumps, hoop table top and teeter! (I do recommend buying the PVC pipe cutter as recommended in the book. They cut the PVC in one squeeze.)I am so happy I purchased the book! I would recommend it to anyone!

Do it yourself Agility
I bought this book to make some reasonably priced agility equipment for my miniature poodle. It appears to be exactly what I was looking for. While I haven't actually started my first item, I have read the book cover to cover and am excited to get started as the instructions appear to be clear enough and detailed enough to follow. I am glad to see that the author has addressed some of the issues brought up in previous reviews that I read. In the beginning I wasn't sure if I should purchase or not but am glad that I did. I gave this 4 stars because at 62 pages, some half filled with diagrams and photos I find it a little over priced. But, it does contain a wealth of detailed instructions. I would recommend

Better than Expected!
I bought this book hoping for help building good equipment. It was better than expected!! I had seen plans on the web and in other books but that stuff was rigged and seemed flimsy, crude and unsafe. It also made my backyard look like a garage sale. This book guides you through building excellent equipment you can be confident with and proud of. Don't waste your time attempting to build your equipment without this book. It easily saved me the price in time and frustration. It was worth every penny. I wish I had found it sooner.

Great ideas that need better details
I was excited to find a book with pictures and instructions to build some agility structures to exercise and train my dogs. Each of the structures can be very expensive when purchased pre-made as a kit, so I was excited to get a book that would give me instructions to build my own.I read it cover to cover and found some parts of the instructions hard to read because the author had used various colors of ink, especially on the diagrams. The hardest color to read was the yellow because it was in low contrast to the white. A better way would be to use colored dots or numbers to indicate the individual pieces or parts that go together.Other parts of the book were just plain hard to understand, especially for those with little experience with building things like these. For example, making a stable base for each obstacle was unclear. The instructions ALL show narrow bases that will tip over easily.I also found several typos throughout the book, including an oddly placed exclamation mark on the cover, of all places!Overall, the ideas are great, but need to be expanded on to make it easier for the reader to build them and to make sure they're stable, especially the footings. Experienced builders understand how to create workarounds and know what to do when instructions are vague, but if the author wants a less experienced reader to be successful building these agility obstacles, they need to better explain how to build them.Nothing is more frustrating and disappointing than spending time, money, and effort to build these obstacles, and having them fail.In my experience using this book, the bases definitely need to be revised to keep the structures from easily tipping over and breaking apart. The see-saw is another one that easily tips over onto its side and there should be better instructions added to stabilize this issue (like driving metal stakes into the ground or adding additional instructions to make a wide base). The upright jumps and the fixed crossbar jumps, also need better instructions to stabilize them.Overall, this book provides a great base of ideas and offers the reader basic instructions. If you can build these agility obstacles yourself, you can save a substantial amout of time and money. If you don't understand the instructions, ask a handy friend or neighbor for advice and help.Your dog will thank you!!!

Very useful
I found the book very useful. I saved a lot of valuable time and money by using the examples in the book. I tried to make some obstacles myself, but clearly the author has "been there and done that". I like that if the obstacle pieces are not permanently glued together that it can be broken down for easy transport. After a few times of assembly it becomes really easy especially if the parts are labled in a logical manner. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to build their own inexpensive obstacles.

Simply pleased beyond my best expectations, so easy to follow!
I was originally concerned that I would have difficulty with ANY how to manual or book quite frankly. This book not only walked me step by step through each process, it allowed me to help my kids understand a bit of construction as well. I was surprised by the color coding of each obstacle and ease with which I was able to put it together! I didn't think I was getting something this comprehensive. Thank you so much for doing this. In this economy, I need to save every penny I can. My kids can now enjoy beginning dog agility and I didn't have to go broke doing it.
