Beryl Matthews gives us another good story
I enjoyed reading this book very much. I learned an aspect of WW2 I had not known about, the ATA. What a valuable service these folks provided and it made a great melting pot for the romances that occurred. Sometimes it seemed to drag out a bit but guess it was necessary to develop the story line.

Outstanding!
I absolutely loved this book and the story it told. The time, place, and history involved made a good story into an amazing work of historical fiction. As a former teacher, there was nothing I loved more than to intertwine history and literary fiction, a wonderful story combined with fascinating history, the greatest method I have ever discovered for teaching, and learning about history and literature. I know there must be a more eloquent way to say what I am feeling, but I hope that this gets across my point about how outstanding this book is. Thank you for writing and sharing.

An insight to the ATA
Beryl Matthews is an excellent writer and as always I enjoyed this book, it covers many issues and is mostly centred around WWll. The characters are interesting and the story gives us some idea of what the ATA did during the war. I knew they existed but perhaps had not realised just how much they contributed to the war. I think people will enjoy the read.

Didn't want it to end!
I recently have gotten into English WWII romance. Have read quite a few. Some wonderful and others not so much. Needless to say Beryl is on the wonderful side and I am looking forward to reading her other novels, WWII or not!

Great read!
This book was a great read! I have always enjoyed stories about the civilian side of the war effort. I did not know of the ATA specifically, but was filled with a sense of pride of how 'civies' did their part for the war effort and, of course, for the American help...before we officially entered the war.

A Flight of Golden Wings
This is a book that is not to be put down. I need to commend Ruth, one of the best characters, for her love and patience with Jack, another great character, while he organized his life in England. His sister was a fantastic character, as was Simon, who was an interesting lead character. Enjoy!

fantastic read..
I have always loved Beryl Matthews as an author. This book I consider one of her best.. it had history about those wonderful men and women in the Air Transport Auxiliary who are hardly mentioned in other books when the history of the second world war is written about, how brave they were flying over Britain ferrying planes all over the United Kingdom for the R.A.F had always a supply of planes so that they could go out and continue in the fight against the Germans and then when the final stages of the war was being fought were actually involved in bringing the aircraft to France. This book had everything historical facts, love and loss of those loved ones. The story kept me gripped that once lifted I could hardly put it downI would highly recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in this era or who like authors such as Margaret Dickinson , Lyn Andrews, Maureen Lee, Hilary Green, etc.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It showed the courage of the pilots of the ATS especially the woman pilots who worked hard to keep the RAF supplied with planes. There was plenty of happiness, tears and sadness. I would recommend this book. But I suggest that you start with the first of the three books in the series which leads you up to this one. I had a job to put it down.

Another excellent book by this author, couldn't put down, only trouble is that I read her books too quickly then have trouble finding another one about WW2. Hope she writes more.
