Linksys MAX-STREAM AC1750 Next Gen AC MU-MIMO Smart Wi-Fi Router (EA7400)

When reading router reviews you must take into account many factors beyond the mere router itself. Subjective to how much technical experience the user has, internet provider limitations, the modem capabilities, and installation practices utlilized, the router's review can suffer when in fact it's working as designed. Keeping that in mind, I am an electrical and data-com technician and I am very pleased with the performance of the Linksys MAX-STREAM AC1900 router I chose to install in my home. One thing I will criticize is Linksys's and Amazon's choice to call it a AC1900 router because if you purchase one you will immediately think they sent the wrong one as the box will call it a Max-Stream AC1750 router. The model number is what is important which on the advertised Max-Stream AC1900 will be EA 7400. The router is an AC1750 model upgraded to AC1900 thus the "Max-Stream" being added into the name of the device and Linksys and Amazon calling it AC1900. The original AC1750 is model number EA 7300 and does not have Max-Stream and MU-MIMO capabilities. The upgrading of the AC1750 is why Linksys named the Max-Stream version AC1900 because it functions at a higher capacity and via MU-MIMO allows mesh networking which is a more seamless transition and integration of many devices on one network. After installing this router in my home, I no longer have to use an extension to have a great signal from end to end and from floor to floor of my home which is a medium size home (2000 sq ft). Beam-forming technology provided through Max-Stream creates a concentrated signal from device to router which extends range and is more efficient by wasting less of the signal that would typically be going in all directions from the router even when nothing is there for connection. The free app is also a great feature as device priority can be set up so that certain devices will always have priority for connection and performance over other less important devices. Parental controls are also an optional allowing connections only at certain times and for select content on chosen devices. Through the app, the router can be accessed from anywhere allowing remote control and monitoring. Guest network can also be setup on both bands, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and secured network can be simultaneously running on both bands as well. The app makes setting up MAC address and port forwarding rules super easy if you have a need for remote access to certain devices such as PC, Rasberry Pi, or a server. All around Linksys has produced a very affordable router that appears highly reliable, very fast, and easy to use. I cannot say anything about their customer service however as I have never contacted them for support. Highly recommended product! - Update: I had to contact customer service in order to change the email address associated with the Linksys Smart WiFi App because it cannot be changed via the App or website (Come on Cisco). Their customer service is sketchy therefore I just reset the router and created a new account - Problem Solved!!

This was a royal pain router. I attempted to get it working including two swaps with Linksys tech support and an upgrade to the EA7500 with Linksys Tech support. Every 24 hours, my router-to-internet connection would drop for no reason and I would have to reboot the router. I tried troubleshooting with Linksys for days, but never got the issue resolved. My network has about 20 clients across 2.4GHz and 5GHz, which shouldn't be a problem for a modern router. My modem logs always looked in good order, so it was clearly a router issue.Ordered a Netgear Nighthawk and have had 0 issues with it.

FAST FAST FAST......easy set up, awesome free app that you can get that links to the router for password changes, setting up guest accounts, and rebooting the router. This is my second one of this exact router, one for home, one for a small business.....both work PERFECTLY....I have 75mps internet and this thing keeps up with the speed even with 5 or 6 connections and a couple wired connections....speedtest.net has it right at 75!! :-)I live in a 100 yo brick loft building with metal stud walls, supposedly both "death" to wireless and the signal is FAR reaching......even outside on a patio about 25 yards away I get full signal, able to stream HD video without any hesitation at all.

Do not buy this router if you want to use the external usb drive/network share functionality. It has the outdated smb1 installed, so forget using it with an external drive shared to the network. The protocol is old and windows 10 doesn't support it. I don't think anyone wants an obsolete and insecure protocol used on their router, so I do not understand why Linksys has yet to provide an update (as of 3/14/2018).

Pleased with this device.Three antennas allow for decent overall signal. Only problem is with Ring security camera outside house, weak signal but that can be addressed.Configuration interface detailed and fairly easy to use.Happy with device.
