No more clap on clap off
I’ve installed a lot of smart switches over the years, but the Amazon Basics Smart Dimmer Switch is by far the easiest one I’ve ever set up. I’ve purchased six of them now, and every single one has worked perfectly right out of the box. As soon as the switch powers up, it automatically appears in the Alexa app. All I had to do was give each one a name and add it to the right group. That’s it. No codes, no pairing dance, no frustration. The whole process takes less than a minute. Once installed, the dimming is smooth, the response time is instant, and Alexa control works flawlessly. For anyone already using Alexa around the house, this switch is a no‑brainer. Simple, reliable, and incredibly easy to integrate. Highly recommended.

Very reliable, easy to install, fun to work with.
I have at least one of all the Echo devices and numerous switches and plugs by various manufacturers. My home is pretty much as "smart" as I can make it (or want to make it). I tried several manufacturer's switches and the best, most reliable, easy-to-install are by Eufy and Amazon. The most important thing to know is how they respond to a power failure or the internet going down. I have tried switches that you have to basically reset or re-install them individually if you get a power failure. They should come back up quickly and work as though nothing happened when the power comes back on and the internet comes back up. For that reason, I never use smart light bulbs.....when the power goes out, they are ON when the power comes back up. Apparently Eufy no longer sells switches and plugs, but if you have an Alexa environment, Amazon switches are great. They pretty much self install. I only have single pole switches, so I have no experience with the 3-way versions. I have had a lot fun playing with smart switches and plugs and Alexa routines. They turn on my coffee in the morning, control my garage door opener, my gate, cameras, and my thermostats.....and a lot of other things. There are some fun things you can do as well. For example, some years back I bought an old stop light at a recycle center. No circuitry, just the frame with the lights and reflectors. Never done much with it. You can buy a little circuit board that lets you flash the lights in various combinations, but bleah....I wanted it to FUNCTION in some way. As you know, stop lights have a red, yellow, and green. What if I could use Amazon switches and Alexa routines to make it trigger on the garage door? Hmmmm... I purchased three switches and mounted them in a little wooden box and wired them to the three lights in the stop light, calling them "Red", "Yellow" and "Green". The "box" just plugs into the wall providing power to the switches. My garage door opener is controlled by a Meross smart opener. That is, I can open and close it with the Meross app or by Alexa voice. It also supports Alexa routines. I can trigger a routine by the door opening or closing. Cool! I created this routine called "Stop Light" to trigger the lights: When: Garage Door (the name of the device) is unlocked. Alexa will: Red will power on Wait 5 seconds Yellow will power on Red will power off Wait 5 seconds Green will power on Yellow will power off Wait 5 seconds Green will power off. The timing here means that the stop light turns green just as the door is fully open. My wife was delighted! LOL! Love these Amazon Basic Switches. Their plugs are great as well. Pretty much standardized on these.

Easy to install and set up.
The easiest home automation thing I've installed. I didnt have a ground wire in the electrical box so I didnt ground it. It works fine. My Echo v4 found it immediately. Now we have voice control over the kitchen light. You'll probably need some bigger wire nuts. The ones the switch come with are puny are for two wires max.

Switch is great - doesn’t work for all applications, but does for most.
There is a ton of misinformation in the reviews and Q&A for this product. What I’m about to state is 100% fact, take it to the bank. Review - they’re inexpensive and they work well so long that you’re in the Echo ecosystem. I have 7 installed, have been going through the house and garages and replacing 1 by 1 for a bit over a year now. My biggest gripe is I wish these had insertion clip style connections to keep the bulk down. The unit is already bulky so trying to stuff it and all the home wiring AND the pigtails AND wire nuts into my house’s not so deep boxes can be a bear. That’s the only reason for the dropped star. Otherwise, they’re switches, they work well with my Echos as well as my fingers. It’s all I ask out of them. No WiFi disconnect issues whatsoever, easy to program and manage. Preferred to the Hue gear that I have in my home. Now to address misstatements - read to the end! The 3-way version works in both 3-way as well as 4-way applications. All 4-way circuits have exactly 2 3-way switches and some quantity (1 or more) of 4-way switches. To use in a 4-way application you simply replace one of the 3-way switches with this unit and leave the other in place. This is not theory, this is in use in my home today. The caveat is that there are at least 3 unique variations (probably more) for wiring a light/switch combination into a 3 way (and consequently 4-way) circuit. As a matter of fact one of my 3-way installations in my home CANNOT accept this switch due to the light being installed between the switches; this is why I have Hue supplementing my smart home. The easiest install is if the supply from the panel and the load are in the same box as one of your 3 way switches. If that’s the case your install is very straightforward. If that’s not the case then the instructions may be difficult to translate to your application and you may want to inquire with an electrician.

Very easy to install and use. Was able to follow the instructions for installing and hook up to wifi and my iPhone. Everything comes with kit, switch and cover plate.

Vraiment Satisfait. Alain Brunet.

I have been using smart switches for about 10 years and this one was comparatively very easy to install and connect to Alexa. As with all smart switches, the size of the unit is bigger than a basic switch so they are a bit harder to fit inside the electrical box but this one was no better or worse than the others (I've used Wemo and TP-Link before). I didn't need to read the paper instructions but they seemed easy to follow. My only complaint is that as a dimmer switch (which works by adjusting the voltage) there should be a way to set the minimum voltage. What can happen is that the lowest voltage can cause lights to flicker (even dimmable lights). There should be a way to set the minimum voltage (in my case I need 3% instead of 1%). This would be a simple software fix. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars since it is on par with all the other smart switches out there and obviously has Alexa integration to create routines, etc. I will be buying more! Nov 13, 2022 Update: the firmware seems to have been updated and I no longer get the flickering problem. Changed to 5 stars
