Smith & Wesson Tactical Penlight with Aircraft Aluminum Construction with LED Flashlight for Survival, Hunting, Outdoor and EDC

The light is extremely bright. It is much brighter than any flash light I currently have. The batteries are included and seem to work well. There are two individual parts that can screw. One closer to the light that serves for adding the 2 AAA batteries and another for turning on or off the light. I have it balanced between off and almost on. I have not used the glass breaker yet (thankfully), but it seems sharp enough. The clip is a little hard to get on to a pair of jeans, but it will bend slightly over time. You should note though, that the light is prone to turning on if force is applied in certain areas. Such as if you press the top of it gently or on the pocket clip.

S&W Penlight Stabby Tool I call this a "S&W Penlight Stabby Tool" because that's what it is. It's a good penlight not a pen. It does not write. One end is a led flashlight that gives off adequate light for reading and signing documents, while the other end is a stabby tool. It can scribe on glass and metal objects due to the carbide tip. Good for marking evidence. The tip is not very pointed but it could do a number on unprotected flesh or break window glass. All metal. Good weight. Easy to conceal. Good knurled grip. Sturdy. Definitely worth my $20 and even cheap batteries last over 100 hours. In the hands of the knowledgeable it could be deadly.

This flashlight is amazing! I bought it for safety reasons but I also live on a property that is 200 Ft long and it is very dark and scary when I have had to locate one of my cats or dogs, especially in late fall/early winter when it gets dark earlier. I am ordering another to keep in my car and will be buying one for my daughter to carry, as well! You can literally blind someone this light is SO BRIGHT!

Think I may be being generous with the stars by one. The "tighten to turn on the light loosen to turn off" is just bad design. When the light is off it is in effect loosening g the two halves making it less solid. Hard to understand how this got past quality control. Imagine any flashlight you screw together to put in batteries but then not screwing it back on all the way so it doesn't turn on, same thing. It needed a button, or, if they were insistent on going with a twist they should have made it a separate part such as a ring around the bulb enclosure. Which is a perfect segue to the next issue, it's just not very bright. This probably wouldn't be so much of a source of contention aside from the packaging touting it as "Ultra-Bright LED Flashlight." Had they held back on the sales pitch and just labeled it as "LED Flashlight" I don't think I would take issue. It would be hard to argue with the price point, it is what it is. Do I hate it? No. Do I expect a lot more from Smith & Wesson? Absolutely.

8-6-2014 Twist-to-turn-on feature constantly kills batteries. I place this in a bag with other items, and either there's a short killing the batteries, or the light is constantly turned on, and I don't see it on in my pocket. A push button or slide would have prevented this. Two batteries costs, say $1.25, so this is quickly becoming a very expensive penlight. 6-5-2015 more batteries killed. Such an easy problem to have prevented with proper design. Initial review below. 10-30-2016 one of my batteries corroded, and the corrosion "glued" the battery to the casing. Unsuitable for long term storage with batteries within. Maybe a blinding high intensity light with a stab end will work better. I compared a compact 160 lumens flashlight with this S&W. The S&W light is insufficient to surprise me; whereas, my 160 lumens light is. Also, a few weaknesses in design. The flashlight turns on with a twist. When carrying, twists can occur frequently, and it's easy to accidentally turn on the flashlight and kill its AAA batteries. Also, the sharp end needs a protector, like a pen top for a ballpoint pen. Without this pen top, it's troublesome to carry this regularly, as the sharp end pokes holes in one's clothing. And is, in my opinion, a hazard onto its own--for example, if one accidentally falls while carrying this, it can stab oneself. Needs a lot of improvement.

I use this very bright light on a daily basis in addition to it’s many other uses. And it is small enough to remain on my person most of the time.

The tip is a glass breaker and the whole thing is solid as a rock. You can use it as a weapon by gripping the checkered section in your palm and use it in a sweeping motion as a stabbing instrument. Flashlight is about 25-30 lumens so don't count on it for your main light but its a great backup.

I have to say, given the brand, I expected to be very happy with this item.. and it's a nice concept, however the execution fails... The whole turning the top in order to turn off the light is not really functional.. you have this item that is supposed to be strong.. but technically is loose in the middle because in order for it to be tight and stronger the light has to stay on.. you have to unscrew it a bit for the light to go off... I find this design flawed.. was not happy with it and feel that if it's in a bag it could continue to get loose and fall apart.. a better design would've been to turn it from the strong position to turn the light on.. not off.. so it's fully tight and ready to be used for defense or glass break.. and if you need the light on, then loosen it.. overall for the price, I'm indifferent.. guess I will keep it.. however it's not something I would recommend due to the design mechanics of it.. the light is bright.. not sure if it's as bright as they claim, but it's bright.. I've found it turned on inside my bag twice already due to the design of it..

I bought a batch of these (the photo proves that I bought more than one), one of which doesn't work. Specifically, instead of producing a light, the pen just grows hot. Nonetheless, I'm really pleased with the ones that work.

La penna è arrivata nella data prevista. Davvero un bell'oggetto, elegante, è un piacere maneggiarlo. Alluminio leggero ma robustissimo, ottima la torcia a led, diffonde una luce davvero sorprendente per una penna. Rende visibile la zona intorno a voi se vi trovate al buio completo. Può servire ad illuminare il motore della macchina, oppure a trovare oggetti che sono caduti in terra nell'oscurità. La luce puntata al viso può disorientare un eventuale aggressore. La punta è robusta ed efficace, può essere utile in molte situazioni pratiche. Impugnatura con ottimo grip. La clip si aggancia facilmente al taschino della camicia. Non è economica ma il rapporto qualità prezzo è a mio parere molto elevato. Sono estremamente soddisfatto. Se dovessi perderla la acquisterei di nuovo senza indugio.
