Some times reviews matter or a lack of them...
I purchased a unit for 2008 335i convertible. Unit is beautiful the screen looks good nice color controls are easy to use and work through the cars controls. Also it was shipped quickly and well protected. All parts were there . But this is where the issues come in. it didn’t come with any type of instructions what so ever. No customer support number from the seller or manufacturer. I broke down my dash got everything wired up and installed to find out the sound does not work. The only thing I can ascertain is that I have a bad wiring harness. I had to break down my whole Dash and spend a day of wiring .When I install the factory radio back to the factory harness back to the factory screen Wala sound through the speakers again . I’m looking for a seller with more reviews before making this type of purchase again.

Works great in my 545i
I was frustrated trying to find a replacement for the idrive in my 2004 545i. I could not find much by way of youtube reviews, and the reviews on amazon were scant, so I hope this review helps someone make a decision to purchase this headunit.I have had this in my car now about a month and it works better than expected. This unit is somewhat of a generic unit, so if you search on the internet you will find a few websites for other units sold on amazon that post detailed instructions on how to install. The instructions that came with the unit are so so. I am very handy and work on cars all the time, yet I had difficulty understanding the instructions although once you read them a few times and watch some videos of others installing similar units, you will see its not very hard.Once installed, it works very well. The screen is crisp and clear and it works as advertised (it is not 4k, but it is 1080i I think ... I could not find the specs on this but the screen is definitely hidef). The bluetooth function is nice and works very well, but I installed one of the carplay wireless dongles from amazon (plugs into one of the usb ports of the unit) and it works flawlessly. The advantage to that is that it is much easier to do maps then to have to enter the address into the unit (although it is not very difficult, I just found it easier to do it by phone). If you want to use the google maps app that comes with the unit, you will need to park your car in front of someplace that has wifi (i did it in my driveway in front of my house) and log into the internet and download the maps for offline use, then you can use the google maps function wherever you drive. I have other apps like netflix and amazon prime on the unit, so I download movies while in my driveway from wifi, then we watch them while driving, etc. I also have amazon music app on the unit, which you can set as the native music app that comes when you select music, and it works great. You can even download music videos along with the music, download your playlists, etc. I works very well.Note that you will need to get into the factory settings to set some of it up. They don't tell you this, but you need to input a password to get in. Mine was 1314, but if you do a google search you will see there are a number of generic passwords that seem to work on these units. Like I said, 1314 worked on mine. One other thing you should know. The instructions (and many internet and youtube videos) say you need to have an aux port for this to work. There are some good videos how to program and install an aux port on a BMW, which worked perfect for me (I have the software to program). However, after going through all of that I realized that the unit works without the aux port on my vehicle. I actually disconnected the unit from my aux port because I don't use it, and I don't like the way music sounds when played through my iphone with the aux port. It sounds much better when played via bluetooth or carplay. Oh, and I could never get the native carplay app to work, which was not a big deal since I like the carplay dongle much better (I installed one of the USB ports in the glovebox and plugged the carplay into that and left it in the glove box, which took some time).I also bought a cheap backup camera and hooked that up through the unit and it works flawlessly. The only nuisance is that once you go from Park to Drive and start driving, the rear camera will stay on for like 2-7 seconds then shut off, which isn't a big deal to me. Just plug in the camera to the rear camera jack and connect the camera's power to the power line that comes out of the head unit and you are good to go (no need to connect the camera's power to the rear lights in the car, just connect the camera power to the head unit "rear camera power" line and you are set).I gave it 4 stars because of the spotty instructions, but the unit itself is fantastic and exceeded expectations.

BMW E93 is a tight fit but great unit!
I got this installed and set up with a little help from the company. The company's in China and communicates via email. They said I didn't need to run the AUX cable from the armrest, but I had to for sound. The unit was a tight fit mostly because the new wiring harness has a big square connector that gets in the way so the BMW head unit won't push in enough. I was able to finally get around that (contemplated sending the unit back), by removing the whole mounting bracket in the dash, and then I was able to push the big connector off to the right side. Then the screen exhibited the same behavior and I barely got it to install after a lot of pushing/etc. Wouldn't want to go through the installation again any time soon, but I was glad I did it.Finally the iDrive scroll would not work properly. This was fixed by going into the Factory setup (few things to do in here btw), and choosing a different "Knob" setting.Overall this is a very good unit and I'd recommend it, especially for the price. It would help if there were some directions. I made a mistake of not connecting one cable between the iDrive and the Android unit and that caused me some frustration, but their support pointed it out after I figured out that there must be something disconnected. Now I just hope it lasts and maybe I'll connect a backup camera to it soon.

Zero instructions.
Does not come with instructions. Huge pain. I've installed dozens of radios and complete audio systems in vehicles. I'm factory trained in a comparable brand vehicle(jaguar/land rover) so Im not a newbie to installs and wiring similar to this. That aside. This was terrible. ZERO INSTRUCTIONS. None. At all. The piggy back harness is huge. The fact that this system doesn't work without using an aux port is insane. There are dozens of little issues. The main reason I replaced my factory screen for this was because my antiglare coating was totally gone and the screen was all scratched. Also this supports Android auto and a back up camera. The idrive system works on the android side as well which is cool. I purchased a back up camera separately and install that was a breeze. Wired right up and worked the first try. Sound qaulity isn't terrible either. The screen has no antiglare and you can't see anything in day time. I purchased a antiglare screen protector for a laptop and cut it to fit. The picture I posted on the android auto screen is with the antiglare and the one of the back up view is without. Over all the product isn't bad. The install was the worst.

Not completely ready for installation.
Many BMW E60 did not have an AUX cable entry. If your car is one of those, you will need additional items to get this unit installed. In particular, you will have to order the AUX cable component appropriate for your E60, physically install it and then code it in the CCC.After the AUX has been installed (or in case your car already has one), you still need an additional AUX splitter to make the connection to the CCC and the new Android unit. This should definitely have been included in the kit.
