Atmospheric, hilarious and unputdownable
Why would you not want to read a novel about a girl who's inherited an actual Scottish castle? And has no idea what to do now? I was hooked from the get go!Izzy is a complex character, feeling like she has to parent her unpredictable mother, wondering what to do with the castle and staff that she has inherited and whether she is up to the task.As she begins her renovations on the castle, the grumpy writer in residence, Ross, starts to grow on her. Slowly she begins to get the castle together, to meet the demands of the wealthy guests her mother has invited there to spend Christmas, but as the festive season approaches, Izzy has to battle through all the hurdles in her way with the help of her new friends. This is such a heartwarming read and I now want to go to Scotland to find my own castle!

Beautiful
My Review: What an absolutley heart warming story, I still feel all warm inside.I mean the fact Izzy inherits a beautiful castle in Scotland and returns from an intense cooking course in Ireland only to find her mother or Xanthe to everyone, had rented out a room for 3 months to a teacher called Ross who is also an author for an amazing sum of money that will help her redecorate the castle in time for Christmas.Did you know that Wild Camping was a thing in Scotland? I didn’t. There are all sorts of amazing visitors to the castle that make it all the more specialThe local dancing, and all the beautiful Scotish traditions are amazing. It really makes me want to travel there for Christmas and do a Mary Poppins and jump into the scene. There is so much love building slowly. The weather is also so very typical Scottish and wintery. You cant help but fall in love with Izzy and all the characters. To find out more please read the blurb and read the book. It’s already reached the dizzy hights of number one on the Apple charts on release day. I mean how many people get offered a huge sum of money by a rich man who wants his Christmas at the castle? I love the whole book from start to finsh.

A dream castle in Scotland
In this the latest in the Romantic Escapes the story centres around Izzy, who has inherited a castle in Scotland from her Great Uncle. She moves into it with her mother Xanthe, who is eccentric to say the least, with the intention of turning it into a boutique hotel. As with other books in this series the author manages to bring the location to life for me and the food sounded absolutely delicious. It did make the work involved in trying to renovate an old property very realistic, with the amount of work and money required enough to make anyone turn pale. Izzy herself sounds very warm and welcoming, her mother tiring and Ross, the surprise lodger, grumpy. There seems to be some very good Christmas themed books this year and this is a great example of one with its warm theme and a mixture of romance, humour, mayhem and a touch of mystery. Definitely highly recommended and I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series, of which there is a taster at the end of this book.I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book and I subsequently purchased it upon release.

Very realistic characters. A bit too true to life.
I have read all the books in the series and I feel like this is the weakest one.I found the characters pretty hard to stomach in this one.Izzy always indulges everyone, especially her mother. She never stands up for herself, just takes what is thrown at her and tries to please everyone at all times with little regard for herself. I felt very frustrated watching/reading about her being constantly taken advantage off and trying her best while her mother kept piling things on. I also felt there wasn't any character development for Izzy or her mother. I wish that by the end Izzy found a spine and that her mother realised that she can't interfere in her daughter's business like that. I mean the characters were very realistic, but it is endlessly frustrating for me as a reader to watch someone being so spineless and never stand up for themselves. Also, Ross should have taken one look at the mother, realised she was a giant red flag, and that her daughter had no boundaries whatsoever and taken off running for the hills, especially considering his backstory. The last revelation at the end and the reaction or lack thereof seemed also out of character and another example of just laying down and taking it by the characters. All in all very frustrating because I was always waiting for Izzy to finally assert herself and the moment never came. My least favourite book in the series.

Wonderful lighthearted Christmas romance
I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas romance. The characters are so well written, and such a pleasure to meet. I felt like a part of the group by the end of the book. The story was fresh and so entertaining. The sizzle between the main characters was well done without resorting to porn. I would absolutely recommend this book.

It was a fun read and a great seasonal time-out from other types of reading. The characters range from quirky to sensible which kept it interesting.
