Exhaust vent for solar
I installed the iLiving 10” Wall Mounted Shutter Exhaust Fan as the exhaust system for a solar battery and inverter enclosure, and it has performed exactly as I hoped. Paired with passive air intake vents on the opposite wall, it creates excellent cross-ventilation that efficiently removes the heat generated by the batteries and inverter. Installation was straightforward. The fan was easy to mount, the wiring was simple, and the included automatic shutters open and close smoothly. The shutters seal well when the fan isn’t running, which helps keep out dust, insects, and the weather. The fan itself is surprisingly powerful for its size. It moves a significant amount of air and has had no trouble keeping the enclosure well ventilated. Even on warmer days, the airflow has been more than adequate for my application. One of my favorite features is the included thermostat and variable speed controller. Being able to automatically regulate the fan based on temperature means I don’t have to manually switch it on and off, and the variable speed adjustment lets me balance cooling performance with noise when full airflow isn’t necessary. Overall, this is a well-built, effective exhaust fan that was an excellent solution for ventilating my solar battery and inverter shed. If you’re building an off-grid power system or need reliable ventilation for a workshop, utility room, or equipment enclosure, I would definitely recommend this fan.

Can Also Be Used As A Roof Vent - READ IF YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW
I could not reach my gable area of the home as it was too tight. My home has four (4) existing static air vents that are about 14 inches in diameter in the roof of the home so that air can naturally flow up from the vents in the eves and out the roof by simple physics of heat rising. But that really is not that optimal and never has been for any home. I have searched for any forced air electrical unit that could be installed below one of those static vents and force a lot more air out of the attic through the roof. There is nothing on the market. I am an engineer, so I just took the time to research enough gable vents to find the right one and this is it. What is important to know is that most gable vents have a high CFM (Cubic Ft Per Minute) of airflow of around 1600-2500. Forcing that much air into a static roof vent will cause a venturi effect due to the inability of the roof vent to accommodate that much air flow. This actually causes more noise. This is why I chose this unit. Much smaller, 820 CFM, easy to install and comes with a rheostat to control the speed of the fan in case the existing static roof vent cannot accept that much air flow. I found that the unit works just fine on full speed of 820 CFM and there is absolutely no noise at all. The unit is ultra quiet. If anyone plans to do the same thing I have done, just get the unit without the rheostat and only the thermostat and save the money. It will work without any noise if you have a decent size existing roof static vent. IMPORTANT INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS: In order for this to work, you will need to install two 2 X 4's between the roof joists 10.5" inches apart and centered over the hole that was cut for the existing roof static vent (photos included). Then two more 2 X 4's between the two I just mentioned, and once again, 10.5 inches apart and centered over the existing hole for the static roof vent. This creates a 10.5" inch square box. The 2 X 4's need to be mounted upright (not flat) so there is a 3.5" inch deep square to insert this new attic fan. YOU MUST REMOVE THE AUTOMATIC SHUTTER that comes with the fan. Very simple and only has 3 screws that hold it in place on each side of the fan. Now you have just a fan and a square metal box that holds the fan. Screw that metal box into the 10.5" inch wooden square you framed as mentioned above. Then plug the unit in using the 6ft long cord and you are done. If you do not have a plug nearby, you can use an extension cord. But the extension cord should be a 3 prong grounded plug since the cord that comes on the fan is a 3 prong plug. I have enclosed photos. Very easy to do and took me less than an hour start to finish, and I also ran wiring and installed an outlet to plug into. One of the photos is of the rheostat that comes with this unit. It has a 3 prongs on the rear to plug directly into an outlet and the cord from the fan plugs into the bottom of this rheostat. The manufacturer of this unit give you no information to know that or the length of the cord, among other things. This is why my review is so long. Now you should know everything so you can do this yourself. My plan is to add another one at the other end of the house since the home is quite large. Already making a difference in the amount of heat in my attic.

Quiet and Effective 10” Exhaust Fan
I installed this fan in my brick garage, and now the garage temperature is much cooler during this hot summer. The fan offers adjustable speed control and thermostat settings, which work very well. As an air exhaust fan, it is quiet enough for garage use. The only thing I didn’t like is the blue protective film on the shutter. It was very difficult to remove, and I actually got hurt while trying to peel it off. Other than that, I recommend this product to anyone looking for a 10” exhaust fan.

Yes it will work in a horizontal position. It is inexpensive not ‘ cheap’
Has UlL listing stickers, the ‘fan only’ unit I got had no cord, It seems pretty well crafted, but boy is that wiring compartment is darn small., getting the ground screw loosened in the bottom was a pain. I dunno what size screw it was neither any metric nor inch size nut driver I had would fit. But when fired up it, ran great , pretty powerful for a. 10inch fan. Yeah, I’d buy it again. My application needed to be installed in a horizontal position and the louvers popped right open. So it will work. Update April ‘22- got a second one to air out garage. Interestingly, the size of the wiring compartment has been enlarged., ground screw install was effortless. . Is someone reading my reviews & responding accordingly.? I appears so. Also the lovers have a blue plastic coating, apparently to seal better when closed. So I’m upping to 5 stars. As I said it’s powerful, quiet no vibration, well built. I like to buy USA made products which it is not, but the quality of this build could go up against anyone. It is nice to see a company take pride in the products and make something sturdy, as well as improve quality. Nice going iLiving!

Excellent fan
Excellent fan. Low noise, Works well. As for longevity, as with most things these days, remains to be seen. Installed it in the gable end of my small garage along with four crawl space vents at the bottom of the walls. Very good airflow with the fan up high and the low vents for air entry.

I just installed the 10” fan for my 9x9 greenhouse. I really like this little unit. It seems to have a good fan variable speed, and pushes a fair amount of air at the high end. Bought the thermostat plug so I don’t have to man the fan myself. I can be at work and not worry about the greenhouse getting too hot. I hope it lasts a long time because I framed it all in nicely.

I living 10" mounted shutter fan... great choice for small areas.
The fan worked out very nice we. Needed it to function in a very small space in my garage to combat our Florida heat ! It works fine and is operating as it should, thanks its a great product that I highly recommend 👌!!

Pretty decent for the price
Purchased 2 10” variable speed fans for moisture issues I’ve been having in my garage due to having a lower lot line than the surrounding houses and excessive amounts of rain. Although having done my best to abate water issues entering the garage from the exterior of my garage, ambient moisture and heavy rains still left me in need of a solution to attempt to circulate the air with my garage door closed. Hopefully the 2 fans will do what’s needed to prevent anything from rusting further. I removed the louvers since the fans were going to be mounted directly to the plywood via a wooden frame I made. They were also being mounted on an angle, parallel to the roof and exhausting through the roof vents installed by the previous homeowner. It definitely wasn’t the easiet route to take but I was limited by time and options for cutting a new hole in my siding. Once the fans were hung, wiring was a breeze aside from the grounding screw being impossible to break loose with a socket or a flathead screw driver so I used one of the screws for the access cover to ground. Both fans were then wired to a Vari-Speed speed controller that also acts as the on off switch. I’m in my garage enough that I didn’t see a need for a humidistat. So far so good. A little bit of rain and humid 50-60 degree days, dipping into the 40’s overnight. I will update with pictures once more run time is in but decent fans for a decent price.

Owned for a year
I have been running this fan almost constantly for one year now to vent out my garage to avoid humidity and it works great ! Nice and smooth and if it fails, it's cheap and I'll just throw another one in. Looking to also put one in my attic to vent out the heat in the summer.

Maybe a little pricey but it works great! Moves a lot of air and is by far the quietest of this type of fan I've ever heard (or not heard :). I'm using it in a custom sound deadening generator enclosure to exhaust the exhaust and bring in fresh air. Will have to wait to see how durable it is over time but it looks to be built very well.
