Stir, Sizzle, Bake: Recipes for Your Cast-Iron Skillet: A Cookbook [Druckman, Charlotte] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Stir, Sizzle, Bake: Recipes for Your Cast-Iron Skillet: A Cookbook Review: Illuminating the tastiness and versatility of cast-irons - I love a good cast-iron, but I am, admittedly, a rookie to understanding its many uses. Mostly, I was petrified of "ruining" its sacred seasoning with the wrong dish at the wrong time. After reading this lovely book, I can safely say that I was even more in the dark than I thought, in a great way though. There is so much I can do with my cast iron, and it isn't half as scary as I was making it out to be. Ms. Druckman's book brings to life a skillet's versatility and introduces a rather fantastically diverse range of foods with it. It is written for any/all chefs and offers highly creative, highly tasty recipes. On a personal note, I recommend the shortbread. My infant, who cannot talk but eats like a champ, couldn't get enough of the broccoli. Seriously. tasty. stuff. "Stir, Sizzle, Bake" is worth the purchase for any cook who loves (or wants to learn to love) their cast iron! I have ended up buying this book 3 times already and keep having to give them away to visiting friends who flip through the pages in awe. It really is wonderful. Highly recommend!! Review: Fabulous! The perfect holiday gift for lots of folks on my list. - This is a fabulous cookbook! Creative recipes, clearly written and beautifully presented. Ms. Druckman is a gifted writer, and I love her introductions a la Maida Heatter to all the recipes, providing numerous reasons to drop everything and MAKE THIS NOW! The toffee bars are outstanding, as are the espresso brownies. Will make the All-Time Favorite Stuffing for Thanksgiving. This book will be the perfect holiday gift for lots of folks on my list.

Illuminating the tastiness and versatility of cast-irons

Beautiful, high quality cook book
Beautiful, high quality cook book, however: to me, the name implies an "easy to do" cast iron skillet cook book. While most of the recipes appear to be pretty simple, unless you live in a metropolis, big city, a lot of the ingredients will be difficult to obtain. For this reason, I've given the book a 3. Price was low, great read, no reason to return.

Beyond the usual cast iron skillet recipes
What a great collection of cast iron skillet recipes, without the usual suspects! I've been using cast iron skillets for a myriad of recipes since my mother gave me a great seasoned Lodge from her collection when I left home. I still have that skillet plus many others that have been purchased through the years, and I wouldn't want to cook without any of them. My first try of this recipe collection was Crisp Toffee Bars. Excellent!

Yep, you can tell this is a NYC cookbook
By the ingredients in the recipes. They sound good but I live in the sticks and there's too many ingredients here that are too hard to come by like teff flour, halva, cacao nibs, masala, duck fat, quinces come to mind. Oh, wait, I do have nigella seeds! I will try some of these recipes with more common ingredients as they do sound good. I gave this three stars for the hard to get items listed, but that shouldn't keep others from the adventures of trying something new.

Old meets new
My 40-year old cast iron skillet is one of my favorite pieces of kitchen equipment. What a treat to find a book with such new and innovative recipes with beautiful photographs. An added bonus is The Skillet Pantry that tells you where to find ingredients and, at the same time, introduced me to some new products. I particularly enjoyed reading Charlotte's personal insights!

"Creative"? . . is a euphemism for HORRIBLE.
"Creative"? . . is a euphemism for HORRIBLE. I saw polarizing reviews and was able to pick it up for what I thought was a "good price" so I thought I would give it a shot. Waste of money at any price. Curry Pretzels? Hoecake with Kimchi . . in a cast iron skillet? These "recipes" are all a meatless mess trying to cash in on the cast iron cooking style ... Yuck? The other significant issue is very few images. I am someone who likes to see what it will look like and this recipe book is like an old style recipe book, tons of "recipes" jammed in a book with very few images. I love to cook, I love creativity, this book supports neither. It will be heading to the local Goodwill store .. not worth the time / trip to ups to send it back to Amazon, I will consider what spent money down the drain . . .
