Cacao is considered healthier than cocoa because of the arrangement of its a's and o's. Also, it's less processed than cocoa, so it retains more natural nutrients and minerals.When you purchase cacao, there is typically no added sugar. This is a benefit for health nuts, but something to keep in mind before complaining that it doesn't taste like hot cocoa. Cacao also has a slightly different flavor than cocoa, which Google describes as "more earthy".If you plan to bake with cacao, you lose most of its benefits by essentially processing it yourself, and turning it into more expensive cocoa. Cacao is typically recommended raw.And so, if you want chocolate flavor and no guilt, consider adding responsibly sourced cacao to your shakes. This is a great option!

I've yet to try nibs, but if you're looking for a great affordable forray into raw cacao, this is well worth a shot!
