Teen Titans: Year One

I love the artwork in this - great stuff. But the story really lets this collection down. The first half of the book is a story so common it's tedious to read again - good guys are acting bad so the kids have to figure out why. The second half is little one-issue stories about some trite things - a one-issue bad guy, a date, and a weird dream. Nothing new to see here. The kids are all pretty one-dimensional, too. The girl is just interested in boys, the leader is stressed with his responsibility, and then there's the cool kid and the nerd. Maybe this would be enjoyable for someone new to superhero comics.

I thought this book was light hearted and fun to read. My favorite is the character development with Batman and robin. I have been reading teen titans for about 15 years and think this was a nice side arch to have.

The art is great. I'll give them that but this was written as though someone did a rough outline of the characters and just forgot to add their characterization.Do not waste your money. There are much better ways to be introduced to these characters.This version of Donna Troy was a travesty.

The early years of most DC teams and characters are complicated with so many reboots having taken place other the years but this enjoyable story does a good job at telling a cohesive version of the teams origin story.If you love the Titans (in any iteration) buy this. Particularly if you're a Dick Grayson or Wally West fan you'll love it.

stumbled across this recently- had no idea. light read - great for kids who want to dig into teen titans stuff. funny as well.
