I have a US model 2011 Audi A4 2.0 Litre Turbo Quattro Sedan. One day recently the car started giving me an alert in the dash every day saying 'Centre Brake Light' and it showed an 'X' thru a lame picture of a brake light. I have just over 92k miles on the car so some wear and tear items have been dying lately so this was not much of a surprise. I checked the light by having someone step on pedal while car power was on aux and I watched. The entire center top (sometimes called Third Brake Light) brake light was out. This thing is a strip of LEDs soldered in sequence so I am guessing that something broke or they are wired such that if one dies the whole circuit is interrupted as I find it pretty much impossible that all the separate LEDs died at the exact same time. Also given the simplicity of the wiring harness it seems that the completion of the circuit that powers this light is how the car is able to know it is failed or not and able to alert you about it.So it was actually a pain to find the part number for this actual thing and I was assuming that I could replace just the bulbs but that turns out to not be the case. Audi only offers a replacement of the whole thing including all the black plastic surround. This product is just an aftermarket\generic version of the Audi replacement part. The actual Audi part # that this product substitutes for is 8K5945097. The Audi part was $80+ at my local dealer so this option was obviously a nice cost savings.Part arrived quick with prime 2 day shipping which is great because the cops in my town are bored and pull you over for almost nothing....a failed brake light is a huge day for them so I wanted to get this fixed asap. I read several people post descriptions about the process and just went for it.I used a flat blade on a pocket knife to just pull down the far end of the black plastic enough to grab it tightly (it bends and is pliable) and pulled hard evenly on the bottom right and left at the same time following the contour of the window. You have to pry down the ceiling panel a bit but not much to free the thing and it take more force than you would think or be comfortable with but it pops out. You then disconnect the wiring harness which houses just two wires and is on the left side of the unit if you are in the back seat looking out the back window. There is a tab built into the red plastic that you have to hold up while you pull on the wiring harness. I had to grab the harness with needle nose pliers while I held the tab at the same time in order to grip it well enough. I had read a few reviews on here from people saying this unit was not an exact fit and they had to just take the light strip (red part) out of this thing and stick it in the original black plastic unit so I measured and compared the failed original and this replacement and everything size wise and layout was identical so I just proceeded with the whole replacement unit. I plugged in the wiring harness and let the thing dangle there. I turned on car and tested to see that light worked and dash warning was gone before I proceeded to reinstall it. Reinstalling this thing is by far the hardest part. It does fit no matter how much you want to convince yourself it does not. You have to push hard against both sides at the same time and also pull the ceiling panel down a bit to make it happen. I found that I had to push much harder to get it back in then on the way out which is really annoying because you just don't have the leverage while kneeling in the back seat light that. Several times I got one side in all the way and the other side not at all and then when forcing it in the good side popped out. I was sweating and angry but eventually I was able to push it hard enough on both sides at the same time with the ceiling panel pulled out of the way to get it in. Once you get it far enough to clear the ceiling panel you can then push real hard on each side separately until they both click. I think having a second set of hands for installation might have been helpful. I was still able to complete the entire process in under 30 minutes.Long story short this part is less than half the price of the Audi OEM replacement part even after shipping and it looks and measures exactly the same. Removal and re-installing is a mild challenge but that has nothing to do with the part and I imagine there are cars where the process could be much worse. This part saved me money and worked exactly as it needed to.

Best tip to reinstall the new housing!
Fit on Audi A4 20131. Like others have stated, the rubber material that outlines the housing is utter trash and will peel when trying to install.2. Don’t let the people who haven’t been able to figure out how to properly install it make you feel like it can’t be done. It can.My tips that gave me the perfect results:once you have the new housing on each rail as far as you could slide it on, you’ll notice it feels like it won’t go any further because it feels like you can’t slide it anymore and it doesn’t look like it should fit when you look at it. This is the point where many give up and immediately came here to write how awful this product is. But this point I’m referring to is where you want to be. Because all you have to do from there is hold the housing with both hands and with your thumbs, position them right about where the housing rails and clips would meet and push them up against the window and continue to slide it back as far as it goes. You will immediately know if you did it right. Those ribbed ends on the corners of the housings should be covered up under the headliner. Just imagine you’re pushing two buttons down so you can get the clips to join the housing rail. It may take a little bit of pulling down the headliner but it shouldn’t be so much that your prying open the whole thing.Hope this helps.

Headache
Used to replace the taillight in my audi. It was not a easy thing to replace and was a headache. Will not be posting the video because it had me using unpleasant language. Had a hard time getting the old one out and new one in.

Good replacement for OEM
Great OEM replacement vs paying +$150 at the stealership. Gave this 4/5 stars cause the rubber protectant around the edges started to come apart very easily upon installation.Removal was a breeze. Tight fit to get your fingers up under the housing, but once you do, just pull towards the back of the car. Installation was a bit more of a pain - fought with it for an hour and couldn't get it to snap in. After watching a few YouTube videos (none in which were helpful), I went to play video games for a few hours and came back at it. Fought with it again for about 15 mins, then decided to pull the headliner down (on my B8 S4 there are two snaps on each side of the brake housing). Brake light snapped right in with ease after that.

Definitely a good replacement.
Had the dreaded 3rd brake light issue on a B8 S4, didn't want to drop $180 for OEM, so gave this a shot despite some negative reviews. Install wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, but wasn't perfect. For starters the plastic housing, and rubber trim, are both more brittle than the OEM unit, so you need to be very careful when installing. I also had one side where the metal clip had sort of popped out, and wouldn't allow it to push on and clip in. Make sure that the metal tab curves UNDER the plastic. Then on the other side, the plastic wasn't exactly the correct shape, so it wouldn't push on fully. The plastic tab was hitting the metal slider part that's attached to the windshield, not allowing it to seat fully. I assume a lot of people will encounter this because it's a pretty cheaply made product. If you do, make sure you put your thumb on the plastic housing right below that area, GENTLY push up and back. I had to massage it a bit, but it finally clipped in, and I managed to do it both without breaking the plastic, and keeping the rubber intact. In summary: It's a satisfactory replacement. It's not super high quality, but you're also not paying the price for super high quality. If you can resist trying to Incredible Hulk the thing into position, it should work just fine. It looks almost identical to factory, and it WORKS, for 1/3 the price of OEM. Definitely recommend.

Fits but...
It’s fits fine and works but the rubber gasket at the tip of the of the assembly was loose and hanging.

Not worth buying
Spent hours trying to install. Would not stay in place. Buy another one from the dealer. Cost about $50 more. They look identical but the one from the dealer install and fit like a glove.

Mas o menos
yo se que el producto no es el original, pero siento que falto un manual de como colocar el producto o algunas veces incluyen herramientas para instalarlo. este solo traia la caja y el producto.
