As soon as I put the batteries in, the alarm started going off for fire and carbon monoxide. Anything I can do to fix it?

Once you close the battery compartment it automatically runs through a cycle so that you are sure it works.  Just push the test button to stop the test.

Question 2

What is the difference between this model and the P3010CU?

Accepted Answer

The P3010CU has a VOICE alarm where this model does not. This is a required feature by law if you are selling a home in Massachusetts. The fire department will NOT pass your inspection if your combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector does not have a voice feature distinguishing the type of alarm ("Fire Fire Fire" for smoke and states the carbon monoxide levels depending on situation). Note- the package will clearly state "voice alarm" on the front if it has this feature. We learned the hard way- different beeps only for smoke vs. carbon monoxide (like this model) will not cut it; it has to state the different type of alarm using voice. Good luck!

description says "kitchen"is it ok to use in hallway?

The only place you really don't want to use it is in the bathroom, or directly outside of it.  The steam from a shower may trigger the alarm.  The heat from the stove might do the same.

Is there a multiple pack for designated areas?

Yes you can buy multiples in a pack! I would put one in every bedroom, hallway and living room if you have a fireplace. The kitchen needs one that measures CO2 and fires! Don’t count on one in the living room warning you of a fire in the bedroom! You don’t need any in your bathrooms unless your husband does his business that burns the wallpaper off the walls! Might help you to avoid some unpleasant surprises! Just saying!
