Leviton Surface Mount Backbox, Single Gang, 1.89", 42777-1WA, White, Plastic

Deep boxes are extremely difficult to find here in Hawaii. Am retrofitting an old house with shallow surface mounted old boxes. New upgraded outlets are deeper and more room is required. Pleasantly surprised that this product is TWO PIECES! Base plate screwed in and notched box snapped in over wiring. Made my job so much easier. Looks good. Note: This is not a heavy duty box. Works for me.

Very well made and solid construction. I like the cutouts in the back and the different options to attach it to a wall, etc. It's also nice that the back detaches from the sides -- that makes it easier to mount. And while there's an outline showing how you'd make cutouts in the sides, you have to make them yourself, say with a drill or hacksaw.

Just got this and it was easy to install on a wall. The back plate can be easily removed from the sides and placed with exact position then the box or sides can be easily snaped back into place. Comes with out the screws so you will need to buy them and wall anchors.

I bought both double and single surface mount backbox's. They work but the double box is really too flimsy and distorts easily on a textured tile surface, this single gang box being smaller is more sturdy. I would buy again as nothing else was available locally, also the box will not take a decorative face plate without overhanging the edges, so I had to buy a plain white standard sized face plate. I had already purchased the decorative plates and did not realize until I started to put them together.
