Clinique Aromatics Elixir Eau de Parfum Spray | Notes of Bulgarian Rose, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, Jasmine + Vetiver | Perfumes for Women

Research said this is a fragrance you either love or hate. That the top notes are strong and jarring. That is true. I was looking for a scent that would focus on wood, moss, and wet forest smells. I figured I would layer other florals over it if the rose, muguet, and yang ylang wasn’t prominent enough. Here’s my review. First spray to my wrist was horrible. Smelled strongly of hospital benzoin and camphor. As a nurse, this is the LAST thing I want to smell like. Shook my head - Nope! This was a mistake. This has a 40 year cult-like following & I couldn’t imagine why! Wanted to see how the middle and bottom notes played out. Within an hour the medicinal smell was gone and floral fragrances began to emerge. A rich aged rose - like dried roses pressed between the pages of a book. Then other softer florals. Then, for 5 more hours the florals were mixed with several woods and the fragrance of walking in a forest after a rain. Let my husband sniff and he declared it “sexy.” Hours later, what remained was a woody smokiness, like an almost burned-out campfire. That one spray is going strong after 7 hours. Most complex fragrance I ever bought. Will spray it an hour or so before going out. If Mother Nature wore perfume, it would be this one.

as other reviewers note, this is a strong scent with a vintage feel, so it won't be for everyone. i usually never apply fragrance via the "spritz in the air then walk though it" method, but with this scent i usually do! i'm in my 50s, wouldn't have chosen this when i was younger because the perfume would have been wearing me. now it feels powerful, just a little witchy, has me walking around feeling like lady macbeth.

I have enjoyed other fragrances from Clinique. I love floral scents, so when the description said: "Notes of Bulgarian Rose, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, Jasmine + Vetiver " I thought this would be a scent for me. Unfortunately, I didn't smell any rose, ylang ylang, or jasmine... all I smelled was overwhelmingly heavy, old lady musk scent. The scent reminded me very much of the vintage fragrance, Tabu, my elderly aunt would wear. Nothing light or floral, this is a heavy, musky scent. Not fresh or clean, just heavy and gag-able. Value for money? If this had been a floral like I expected, I would have been willing to pay this price. But it is a very tiny travel size for the $35 I paid.

This Smells So Good! But it is So Strong! Instead of putting a dap on my wrists? I put a small dab on my ankles. Ha. My Husband Loves it too.

Been wearing this for 40 years and it still smells the same. I’m not sure what others are talking about. I will purchase again. I like buying the little bottle so that is doesn’t go stale. Young and old alike complement me. One little spray is plenty with any scent.

OMG.!..I hadn't even sprayed it yet and could smell it..the scent is scrumptious...I love it,I sprayed once on my neck and can smell it all through the room..love this..will buy again!
