Leave that Switch Alone!!!
From their inception, AC/DC created a unbelivably simple formula for their albums: mostly great songs + a few lesser known songs= Great Album. This simple equation worked like a charm for the Aussie band, propelling their early albums to...ehem, notoriety, at the very least. Love'em or hate 'em, they were hard to ignore, and they wouldn't have it any other way.The equation changed with their breakthrough album "Highway to Hell" and the arrival of producer Mutt Lange: ONLY GREAT SONGS=CLASSIC ALBUM. And this was taken to even higher limits with the mother of all rock albums, 1980's blockbuster "Back in Black". However, for reasons that still to this day elude me, AC/DC's commercial appeal started to decline by the time their follow up, "For Those about to rock" was released, merely a year later. And then came "Flick of the Switch". For the longest time, I hesitated to purchase this record, due to all the bad comments that I heard from critics and fans alike. This is supposed to mark the beginning of the decline for the band. After listenig to it for a month straight, I don't get those comments.Sure, Mutt Lange is gone for this one, and the album only yielded a minor hit in the title track, but for the most part, this is a fine record. Most of the time, it's not such a great idea to self produce a record, simply 'cause you tend to get a little self-indulgent. But that is hardly the case here!!! The equation reverted to its original form, but the material is still strong: the album starts rolling with a rollicking mood, "Rising Power" being somewhat reminiscent of "For those about to rock". The next 2 tracks, "This House in on Fire" and the title track, are awesome!!! But then, something happens: the next song really cuts things short: indeed, "Nervous Shakedown" has to be one of the weakest songs in the band's catalog, and is subpar, even for filler standards.Things start working again with the next couple of tunes, "Landslide" and "Guns for Hire",but, inexplicably, "Deep in a hole" screws things up, cutting the flow of the record AGAIN!!! Then we move to the last songs, and everything seems to be going well with "Bedlam in Belgium" rockin & rolling along...until "Bad Lands" shows its ugly face...however, the album ends on a high note with "Brainshake". Granted, those 3 songs that I mentioned are NOT good, to say the least, but that hardly means that the record deserves all the bad reviews that it has received (save those for "Stiff upper lip" and "Fly on the wall"...)So, if you, like me, are hesitant about this record, go ahead and take a chance with it. You won't be disappointed!

No love songs here
Cd arrived promptly and well packaged. Stuck it in the player and have not taken it out since. Have owned all of their works and this is one of my favorites. Bold, rocking, uninhibited, male energy. Thanks guys- for the great music over the years from one of your gal fans!

Much Underrated Album...
I really enjoy Flick of the Switch. In addition, it feels like the guys are having a good time. I know Phil Rudd left the band after these recording sessions, but the album is stripped down to the basics. After all, it was recorded in the Bahamas, and the production is no-nonsense simplicity. The band was formerly under the heavy hand of producer "Mutt" Lange for three albums in a row, as grand as those recordings are. There is an air of freedom in the sound of this record. For the moment, they were doing things their own way.

IMPOSIBLE DEJARLO PASAR!!
