Excellent sound and quality.
Ok, I finally broke down and got these. I had wanted 'em since they announced them. My hesitation was, and I'm not gonna lie, strictly price related. They are a bit pricey, but I see they are well worth it. When I first tried them on my iphone, I thought they were pretty good. Good highs and mids, and excellent bass. Then I downloaded the Maiden Audio app......WHOA! Huge difference running my itunes thru the MA app. Somehow they got louder. Then sounds coming through are crisp, and clean with absolutely no muddle. I hearing minute details in the music that I had missed before. When listening to Iron Maiden I hear all three guitars in perfect harmony and yet isolated. Crazy. I'm now going thru all my different genres of music from Sinatra to Mariachi to Earth Wind and Fire to......all of it sounds incredible not just the Maiden. Thru the app you can use EQ presets set up by the 6 IM members, (I like Steve Harris' set up best), or you can save you own settings. They are very comfortable and I can wear 'em for hours. The Maiden Audio app also lets you listen your music in HD audio for a fee from Itunes. All in all, I'm very pleased with this headset.

You really WON'T be disappointed.
I'll be honest: I wanted this as soon as I found out about it's development. Knowing who developed it, and how it was directed was impressive. Onkyo I personally have known of since the 1980's, and know them to produce quality audio equipment. The development story behind it's from inception, to testing, and back to the lab and further development meant a lot. I'd thought about the other audio headphones, but never really had a need. Until last few years, doing more travelling via bus & plane, I HATE earbuds, they're so uncomfortable. And I honestly haven't had a set of headphones since the early 80's when we all had cassette "Walkmans" and those were small and "tinny" sounding. These are quite comfortable, and sit on the ear and head comfortably. I absolutely love the cloth-insulated cord, the woven blue color too. But I'm counting on the connection between the cord & the plug housing to last essentially forever! It's NOT the moulded type housing you see with other cords. It's long, as a headphone set should be, and comes with a 1/4" adapter too for the larger phono-jacks you may have. The sound is crystal clear. No distortion, full-bodied sound, and using the Maiden Audio app, give me good control over equalization. And NOT JUST preset frequencies. You get to put your finger over ANY frequency and adjust it! Plus you get each band members preset EQ options. I'm partial to Adrian, and I've played his licks for years, but Harris' EQ settings are great as well.I'd decided to splurge, and blow some extra $$$ on these, knowing (from many reviews) that other good quality headsets are out there. But I am a fan of the band, and am not a fanatical collector of their stuff, but I though this'd be cool to have, and I'll use it. I already have quite a bit, in the two weeks I've had the set.

Sound and design are sublime, but cord is non detachable and plug is flimsy. Resultingly, for a slightly bent plug, I had to buy a brand new set of headphones.

ED-PH0N3S: AMAZING
First off, I don't write reviews. I just don't. So that should tell you something. These have been out for awhile now and the price put me off. Well, I needed a new set and have wanted them since I saw they were being released. So I broke down and bought them.As a new-found audiophile, I will say this: yes there may be better headphones out there, but at this price point, I am MORE than satisfied with this purchase. I should have expected nothing less from Steve Harris and Onkyo. When I listened to a live track (specifically Aces high from Flight: 666), it sounded as if I was standing at the mixing board with the crowd around me and the band up on stage! When I listened to a studio track it was no different. With these headphones, you can pick out every single instrument, every single strike of a drum stick, every cymbal hit, and the best part is that vocals are front and center while not compromising quality or tambre from the individual instruments.Oh and these aren't just great for Maiden tracks, or even metal music, they sound great with EVERYTHING.When listening to an old recording of It's a Long Way to Tipperary from the first world war, I could pick up on the rotation of the sound recording equipment that was used. And it didn't even have to be at that high of volume to pick that out. With Sinatra, you can pick up on all the different sections of the big band orchestra. Country music? The steel guitar, banjo, and vocals are front and center but everything sounds great!Yes the pads aren't the most comfortable, but the sound quality is incredible!Well done Onkyo and Steve Harris, these headphones are a hit!

Studio quality sound!
These are the best headphones I have ever owned. I love metal and hard rock so I am hearing parts of the song I have never heard before. The mids are amazing! I own a pair of Bose which are great but like many headphones on the Market lein way to far to Bass sounds that are really only good for pop music. If you want to hear every instrument buy these! I love music even more now than I did before! Great buy at less than $200. Love the Maiden Art as well! Up the Irons!
