## Description

A sway control unit is an inexpensive solution to the problem of a wandering trailer. CURT sway control units are designed to attach to your vehicle and trailer at the coupling point and counteract any lateral movement in your trailer, keeping your tow load straighter on the road and giving you more control over your vehicle. The sway bar uses a material like that used in brake pads to provide the necessary resistance while still allowing your vehicle to complete proper turns with your trailer attached. The sway control mounts onto the frame of your trailer and connects to the vehicle's ball mount using a separate trailer ball from that used for coupling the trailer. CURT sway controls are adjustable and easy to install. They come with a sway unit, a trailer-mounted attachment ball and bolts, a hitch-mounted attachment ball, a weld-on tab, a mount reinforcement plate and attachment clips. Though a weight distribution hitch is not an ideal solution for trailer sway on its own, CURT weight distribution hitches are made to be combined with a sway control unit and many are available with a sway controls included for a complete package. CURT also carries ball mounts that are specially designed to work with a sway control kit, having a sway tab welded right onto the ball mount platform.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How many sway bars do i need for a 6500 pound travel trailer?**
A: My travel trailer is 38' and weights 8000 lbs loaded.  I tried using just 1.  It still moved around a lot in the wind and when being passed.  I added a 2nd sway bar after about 2000 miles of driving.  The 2nd made a huge difference.  Things finally settled down.  The trailer is about 11' tall and 38' long, that's a lot of surface area to be affected by the wind.

**Q: Will the sway control ball adapters that screw onto the existing ball mount work with this? Or do I need to find a local welder to do my dirty work?**
A: I assume you are talking about where it mounts on the hitch on your vehicle. If you have an equalizer hitch it normally has a tab with a hole where the small ball for the sway control should fit. If it does not have one then you will need to take the ball mount and the supplied tab that has the hole in it to be welded on. You may want to have a dealer that mounts hitches weld on the tab because they should  know where it needs to be attached.

**Q: will this work on a jayco 184bh, the frame is 2 x 3 inches**
A: if the frame is as thick as the attachment plate then I say it would work but if its to thin then I would give the company a call and get there advice good luck.

**Q: Do you need to use this with the Weight Distribution kit or can I use this by itself?**
A: You do not have to use it with a weight distribution hitch.
