Perfect solution
I had a terrible problem with my hot water heater blowing out in our manufactured home. Contractors tried various wind block devices on the pipe and also raised and lowered the pipe but nothing worked. So, I got this along with a B-vent adapter and in 10 minutes the problem was solved!!!

Works Well
This simple cap is designed to baffle the wind flow coming across the outlet. We live at 8,000' in the Colorado Rockies. When I say it gets windy here, believe it. Our water heater used to blow out several times per year. This is more than annoying, as our hydronic floor heat circulates through the water heater. Not only are there potential freeze issues, but the pump will run endlessly, circulating cold water through the lines. We were preparing to leave on a month-long vacation in the middle of winter. I installed the vent cap just before leaving - with some trepidation. It was very windy on several occasions while we were gone. Upon our return, the heater was lit and the floor warm. The following day we had a real good blizzard with 100 MPH wind gusts. The heater stayed lit throughout. Great design. It works!

No more cold water!
Our attic hot water heater would often get blown out during even mild storms here in Houston. After fitting this High-Wind cap to the exhaust we have survived two lots of high winds from hurricanes and several 'cold fronts' blowing through without having to re-light the heater. I am very pleased with this item.

70+hr winds!
Works Great! 70+ hr winds! Old cap allowed furnace pilot light to go out but this has helped a lot!

Ok for medium wind, useless for high wind.
Just got it today and there's not high wind (of course, since I want to test it) but I immediately saw an improvement of air movement in my pellet stove exhaust. Will update the review once we get some serious wind. I bought it to keep the pellet stove from blowing out all the time in high winds. It looks nice, I felt heat on all sides after hooking it up.Update 2016/1/10 - First high wind event today. Fire has not been blown out, 40 MPH gusts, 20MPH constant wind. Flame has remained high. Hooray! Solved the no-heat-during-windstorm problem on the homestead.Update 2017/02/12 - Ok, finally had a really good wind storm. Pellet stove kept blowing out. Had to bring in a propane construction heater. Threw this one away, ordered another design. Definitely NOT for HIGH wind, more useful with medium wind.

Highly wind-resistant
I installed this on our woodstove. That's the first thing that should scare you about this review, because it's not rated for woodstoves, but I did it anyway. The second thing that should scare you is that I installed that woodstove in a school bus that drives down the highway at 70mph. It's probably not a good idea, but I did it anyway. I bought this cap so the wind wouldn't blow ash out into my bus while driving. It works. That's what counts.

Works great!
Although this is for gas I used it for a pellet stove as we get most of the strong winds from the North side of our house, which is where the pellet stove sits. Had a few very windy days with winds up to 50 mph and the stove didn't blow out.
