Great for grinding Celtic salt
I have been trying to find a good quality salt grinder but have come up short when it comes to grinding Celtic sea salt. I felt that this grinder was a bit pricey but figured I’d try it anyway. Well, I am very pleased with how smooth grinding has been. I mainly use coarse gray Celtic salt but I choose not to bake it to dry it. This grinder does pretty well and is much better than the grinder that came with the Celtic salt. My other grinders cake up and get clogged to the point that I have to use a toothpick to clear the build-up. Either nothing comes out of previous grinders or only a tiny bit at a time in chunks. This one really grinds it finely and consistently. The salt still comes out in small clumps but that's because of the moisture in the Celtic salt. I would order another one for my peppercorn but I'll have to weigh my options due to the price. There has been no caking or pasting of the salt. I have the size almost as small as it can be and it still does fairly well. To adjust the size of grinding, just twist the dial or nob (that is under the cap). If you twist it too far, it will unscrew from the grinder but it's easy to put back on. I guess a downside to having the dial or nob so close to the opening is sanitation. I've seen some grinders that you can adjust from the outside but being that I'm only using this grinder for Celtic salt, this will not be a problem for me since the size is perfect. I took a picture of some sauteed fine string beans with some Celtic salt on top so that you can see how the salt comes out. The quality of this grinder is definitely a winner and if I had to purchase another salt grinder, I’d probably get one just for the Celtic salt.

Simple and elegant design combined with excellent functionality. Perfection!
This is another excellent product made by AdHoc and it doesn't disappoint. I have recently bought a teapot candle warmer also made by AdHoc and I was so impressed by its quality that when I saw this AdHoc mill I had to try it out as well. The mill is very well made with a brushed steel top cap and middle section and wooden accents in the middle. All together it looks very classy and refined. The mill is quite easy to refill and clean by unscrewing the top and separating its glass bottom that you can simply put in your dishwasher and that's it! The grinder is all ceramic and works perfectly and can be precisely adjusted by turning click-by-click a knob that's located under the top cap. Another well-thought feature of the grinder is the top cap that covers its grinder outlet. Most mills I have encountered have a grinder at the bottom, which causes it to spill leftovers of salt or pepper after grinding when you put it on a table, and you always have to wipe the table surface afterwards. This mill does not have this drawback, the grinder is at the top and once you have ground your pepper or salt you simply put the cap on its top and put the mill away, no spills no cleanups!I saw one negative comment here saying that the grinder is plastic. This is not correct, if you look from the bottom, you can get an incorrect impression that it's made of white plastic, in reality the grinder itself in made of white ceramic and its retainer is made of white plastic, so when you look at the whole assembly you can get a wrong impression that it's all plastic made. Look more carefully and you'll notice the difference between ceramic parts and plastic ones.It functions very well too, no doubt here. I filled it with coriander seeds and tried it out. The smooth, wide wooden section of the grinder is amazingly easy to hold and turn, grind size adjustment is very easy with a click-by-click knob under the cup. End to end, I was happy with the fine grinding result.Bottomline:YES, I definitely recommend this mill to everyone who loves to cook and loves quality kitchenware!Pros:1) Easy to refill and clean.2) Its glass container can be put in a dishwasher.3) High-quality ceramic grinder.4) Warm wooden design accent.5) No-spill design, excellent!Cons:1) Metal parts are not really all metal, it's a thin metal sheet over plastic.2) Do not come in pairs! Only one. Make sure to order two.

Love This!
I am currently using this with pink Himalayan sea salt. It’s very pretty on my table. It is also very well made and works well! I will probably buy another for pepper!

Lovely salt or pepper grinder
This is an extremely well made, lovely pepper or salt mill. It is well designed by the German parent company for which it is made, and they clearly have a good handle on their facilities worldwide, for the unit is well crafted, and nicely weighted, with well-fitted seams. There is even a rubber-edged metal-topped stopper that fits in over the grinding mechanism so that nothing will get dirty or rusty. My few reservations about this item are that it is made in the People's Republic of China and that is quite pricey. But if you want a nice looking manually operated salt or pepper grinder for your table, this unit is quite nice, thank you.
